Neverwinter Stories: Book One – Chapter Twelve

General Summary

Zalak was surrounded by brigands and their leader Erazek. He tried to intimidate Zalak into helping him convince his party and the dwarves to relocate. However, before he could make a decision, our heroes emerged from the temple and confronted Erazek. The encounter quickly turned to blows when Zalak lashed out at the hobgoblin. Things only settled back down when a towering half-orc named Uroga demanded that she be allowed to fight. The brigand's elected to stop, siting that Uroga was "too into fighting". Erazek explained that they were from a diverse group of bandits known as the Forkbeard Family and that they needed to find a new hideout. The two sides eventually came to an agreement where they were allowed to stay at the excavation site, but only after Dazlyn and Norbus had finished their work.
Uroga was upset by the lack of fighting and demanded that someone duel her. Unit 7-5-3 obliged, and the two sides watched as they duked it out. The warforged did surprisingly well despite his lose, so much so that the Uroga declared him as her "battle lover", taking a small piece of his iron hide as a token. Erazek recognized the strength our heroes possessed and proposed an idea. If they came their current hideout within the next few days, then they could be included in their plans to find Furtîlorn. He explained to them the legend of the tree and a sudden development. Benjalem was a great explorer from thousands of years ago who made it his life's mission to find Furtîlorn. No one knows if he was successful, since he disappeared on one of his expeditions. However, he resurfaced not long ago, distributed four maps that allegedly lead to Furtîlorn among the people of the area, and vanished without a trace. While Erazek did not say what their plans were, he did say that they would be rewarded for their efforts. The party agreed, but as they left Erazek called Zalak out and challenged him to a duel. The warlock accepted the challenge, and they agreed to meet at the Old Tower the following day.
Having completed their original goal, the party got Dazlyn and Norbus' signatures and returned to Oakhurst for their reward, while Zalak made his way to the Old Tower to prepare for his duel.
