Neverwinter Stories: Book One – Chapter Four Paralogue: Markus

General Summary

When the party returned the the company of the Yusdrayl's cult, Markus asked the cult leader if she knew anything about dragon crests. She did, but she asked the warrior to ready himself, for if he wanted to know the trust behind them, then he would need to be fully prepared. After a days rest he returned, to which Yusdrayl told him of a secret place in the underdark. If he traveled there and survived, then he would have his answers. He accepted the challenge and descended into the underdark.   First he found Dekur, a veteran kobold warrior who guarded the tunnels for his kin. After a brief exchange, the old man offered to guide him through the caves. Many hours of travel passed and the pair came to a bridge stretching over a ravine. However, when they went across they were ambushed by a trapper. The encounter almost cost Dekur his life, but with quick thinking the two managed to survive.   Eventually they made it to their destination, where Dekur departed. This place was in an old marble ruin, covered in draconic scripture. There he found an incredibly old half-dragon who asked if he was willing to die for his pursuits. Our hero asserted that we was, then took on the half-dragon's trial. He was cast into a pit, one filled with mist, rushing water, and little to no geometry. The trail: finding a little draconid with only his intuition. after spending over a day in these extreme conditions, Markus eventually awakened his sense for the arcane and found the draconid soon after. Having passed the trial, he was teleported back to the relative safety of the Sunless Citadel.
