Neverwinter Stories: Book One – Chapter Twenty-Two

General Summary

Exhausted from the assault on Heim Haug's dungeon, the party took shelter in the barracks. During their rest they spent some time mingling and Alessandra spoke with Jekyll about his findings. All was well until a mysterious elf with ash skin, white hair, and dressed in strange black garb appeared in the room. She played coy with the party for a while, but they soon learned that she wanted to make a deal. She and her higher-ups wanted to cut their losses with GeorGedor, and she wanted the party to kill the Ettin in exchange for a favor. She also offered them information on the location of an item that will aid them greatly in their upcoming confrontation in exchange for a single magic item. Without hesitation, Askra gave the elf her cloak of billowing, and they were then told of an nearby secret sanctum that housed this important item. She disappeared, the party finished their rest, "the Weevil" and Frank went off to find Erazek, and the party set out together to find this mysterious sanctum.
After clearing some debris from a door, our heroes delved into an alien chamber rich with supernatural energy. The room contained an altar and beyond that a dark purple mirror. Lilith peered into it and her mind was assaulted, though she resisted the invasion. Instead of going mad, she was transported into a ethereal plane where she found the object the elf spoke of—a shadowy urn from which the sound of a heartbeat emanated. Touching the urn transported her back, but actually taking the urn required the cooperation of a dark spirit bound to it, an allip. It politely asked the party to share its knowledge of GeorGedor's power and of the nature of the urn. After unanimously agree it let loose its manic whispers. Only Alessandra withstood its maddening lore—imparting fragments of its knowledge onto her. The allip released its hold over the urn and gave it to party.
However, breaking into the sanctum and taking the urn incurred the wrath of the sorcerer ettin, who teleported into the room with the intent to unless all of his power onto them. This fate was only prevented by Markus' clever and underhanded tactics. The party outmaneuvered the enraged giant, and after taking his scepter and senses they ripped GeorGedor's mindstone from his chest. His body grew limp as his mind was trapped in its new crystal prison. After fighting off other horrors of his creation, our heroes took a moment to relax and reflect on their journey so far and the journey sure to come.
