We head back to the messenger station and tell Khulan about what happened in the shrine. We talk about where we’re going next, and she brings us to a merchant with magical items. Cali buys 3 silver arrows, Wulf sells his great axe, Jade buys rations for the party, and Cali cleans him out of healing potions.
Moira, Tafi, and Oska make sure to say goodbye to us, and give us a map of the river we’re going to travel up. Tafi comes with us to the river to see how the leaf works. Khulan comes with us as well, and tells us we will come across waterfalls and rapids, and Cali is petrified at the thought of waterfalls.
We touch the leaf to the river and it becomes a boat. Khulan says she’s pretty sure that the word to make it go is “vakh” and the word to stop is “bol”. We head down the river for the day, and get chased by an angry swan. We out-boat it, though, and eventually end up at a campsite. Wulf catches a large fish, and on our way into the camp, a glowing ruby appears in front of us. The voice of Dayo, the kid studying magic in the desert town, starts talking and wants to make sure it reached the right people. We’re told that some people have been looking for us, and most recently it’s been a resistance fighter and some monks associated with the monks we met in the lighthouse. Dayo is freaked out about this and wants us to know, like he wants to make sure we’re warned about it.
Quell casts sending to Liya, the eldest sister who runs the temple. She asks Liya if she needs something from us. Liya said she hasn’t shared our name, and none of her temple is seeking us. So whoever is looking for us is not actually with them, they’re just pretending to be Shamas monks to find us.
Quell sends another message, this time to Dayo, asking what they looked like, if they knew our names, and what they wanted. He says one of them was his age, blind, with neat hair. The resistance leader was an old woman with a long braid, and scruffy. They didn’t know our names or anything, but they wanted to know absolutely everything about us. Quell sends another message after consulting the party on what to ask, and he says they asked who defeated Umar (the guy who caused the planar issues in the village) and how, and where we were going next. Quell lets Liya know they might stop by, and we all spend an uncomfy night at this campsite.
Quell makes sure to turn rabbit back into a rabbit instead of a snake. Cali prays to the Beast of the Hills once everyone is asleep. In the morning, we will head back on the river, and after looking at the map, we determine that we will most likely hit rapids today. Neither Jade nor Wulf knows very much about rapids.
