Jade suggests Quell have Setluk scry on Vren, the man who threatened her and her mentor. He asks if we have anything of his to help with the scry, and Jade says she doesn't. He jokingly laments that people don't leave vials of their blood lying around because it would make his job much easier. (Ummmmm wtf is that why the ppl in that monastery wanted vials of our blood? Did we know that at the time? I cannot remember but I don't think it's a good thing that they have our blood because even if they're not doing anything shady with it, someone could take it and scry on us.)
Setluk says he isn't far but definitely intends to return to town. He also calls him a pitiful little coward. When prompted, he says the spirit that helped him with the scry had... commentary. Jade thanks him for scrying.
We get some lunch in town and Jade judges Wulf for the weird meat he decides to have. He is confused.
We set off to find Tam. At the edge of the river we need to cross, we come across a raft tied to a tree, empty but for a leather bag with an empty waterskin. We don't see anybody nearby. We plop down the leaf boat and decide to use it to get across. It begins to rain as we cross, and Jade grumbles about her hair. We begin the trek on this side and Wulf slips in the mud and falls all the way back down to the beach. He climbs back up, covered in mud and gravel, and starts to shake it off once he's back up with us. We all shield our faces and Quell shrieks. Jade, annoyed, tells him that's unnecessary, she has MAGIC FOR THIS. And then she uses prestidigitation on herself instead of him and we keep moving.
Further down the path, we find a skull and some scattered bones, seemingly humanoid in shape. The leg bones seem to have been gnawed on. Wulf determines it was done by something big and we wonder about bears, since Tam did say he fought one out here recently. We continue on with caution until we reach the smear mark on the map. Because it was a smear though the area is fairly large, so Quell casts locate object again and sends him a message. He says he's in a cave that he thinks is a tomb and hurt his ankle, though he's not dead yet, which he's optimistic about. He's by a big grey rock.
We split up in two groups to look for him. Cali with a nat 1 grumbles about that being the least helpful information he could have possibly given, he CLEARLY doesn't spend any time in the woods because who would think grey rocks are a good marker?!?!?!?! Jade finds a freshly dead bear while they're walking beside her grumbling. There was magic used to kill the bear, so he is probably nearby. Cali says oh great we found the bear he killed, now we just need to find A GREY ROCK NEARBY. Jade messages Wulf to find them and Quell's locate object pings when they get closer. We follow the pings to a cave where we can assume he is. Quell sends him a message and confirms.
Cali has a bad feeling though and asks Quell why he can't meet them at the entrance. Quell says he hurt his ankle, but Cali still doesn't feel right and insists that he could drag himself further up, he's got another leg... Quell asks where he's at, he said something about a door? He says he fell into a pit trap and the door closed behind him. Jade and Quell ask Wulf and Cali if Schildling tombs usually have traps?? They confirm that yes, to keep robbers out and dead inside, they will often be trapped. It's likely that this tomb was for someone fairly important if it is trapped, however. Cali goes to try and find a name outside of this cave. They find some old runes and scratch marks but it's so old it's impossible to fully read. We all get prepared with weapons and yet-to-be-lit torches, and start heading inside.
Cali detects undead nearby and we come across a room with stone chests and sarcophagi. We can't find a door so Quell asks him how he found the door and he said he fell into it in the hallway. We presume the blood in the hallway was his, so we start touching the walls trying to find it. Quell finds the trigger stone and it opens up into a darkened pit, and we hear his voice asking if it's us. Wulf grabs him and leaps over the pit to safety, and we all exit the tomb with haste.
As it starts to get dark, we find a safe but damp campsite. Cali finds a good sturdy tree to sleep in and Jade uses prestidigitation to make it warm and dry in a little spot for herself and burritos up in her cloak. We prepare to question Tam before bed.
