We're at the campsite we've scrounged for ourselves and prepare to question Tam. He asks who the hell we are and Wulf says "I am Wulf." There is an awkward silence and we don't offer extra information at first until he asks why exactly we came to find him. Quell tells him a bit about what we learned at the lighthouse and that Egil sent us. He says he hasn't ever heard of or worked for an Egil. Wulf smells fear on him when Quell is pressing for information from him regarding the crystal without saying what exactly we're looking for. We push him until he, slightly panicked, admits that maybe he knows what it is we're looking for but needs to figure out whether or not we're bad guys. At Setluk's suggestion, Quell casts zone of truth.
He was sent by Lady Sophie to "keep the light burning" and "guard what the wanderer has left". We convince him that we're not looking to harm anyone, we're trying to break it so bad people don't use it. He says it'll freeze water if you leave it in it, but when it melts not even rats will drink it.He admits that he did touch it with his bare hands once and he vomited and shivered the rest of the day. He doesn't know what it is but he does know that it's bad news. There was a bird call maker in the box with it too but he gave that away to someone else. There was a letter with it as well. He finally pulls out the letter and shard and gives it to us.
We make camp and take watch after talking about how bears happen. Wulf hears a bit of scurrying on his watch but sees nothing else. When he switches with Setluk for watch, he tells him a snack was nearby and got away. Setluk says if it comes back he'll catch it for him.
In the morning, we eat sausages Setluk purchased back in town. At his request, Quell casts magic on Tam. He was weirdly intrigued by cleric magic during the zone of truth and asked her to do more magic on him, so she gives him something with strength bonuses.
As we travel back to town, we come across a mostly natural bridge made of stone. Cali tests the bridge with their foot and once they're sure it's sturdy, they start to cross it. A booming voice demands "WHO THERE????" Cali pulls out their bow, and a troll slowly emerges. Cali squeaks and jumps backward off the bridge. He tells us that this is his bridge and we need to pay him in meats or shinies. Wulf goes to catch something for him, Jade gives him expensive jerky, Cali gives him two strips of cheap jerky, and Quell gives him sea glass. Setluk gives him sausage. While Wulf is gone, Cali teaches him how to spell his name, Grag. He says he is Grag of Bridge, so at his demand, they carve Grag Bridgeman into the rock bridge for him. Jade purposely acts very proud of him for making this bridge and he becomes quite proud of himself. Wulf returns with a stag he caught and he and Tam are both also granted access to cross the bridge. We say goodbye to our new friend Grag and carry on.
Quell falls down the same place Wulf did when we first crossed the river, but we manage to carry on and head for town. Tam is fascinated by the leaf boat and wants to make one. We discuss how good we are at swimming in case we sink, as the leaf boat is riding pretty low with six people. Once we reach the other side of the river, Tam offers to have us meet Lady Sophie. We discuss it and determine that we have a meeting tonight (where Vren's meeting place is) but would love to meet her in the morning. We part ways with Tam, and Setluk offers to help tonight. We discuss the plan and Jade tells us that she plans to talk to him regardless. We don't come to a super solid plan yet.
