Nuru, one of the monks, goes into the well first and reports that there's a small air pocket and something magical that glows blue and red. Quell borrows her sandstorm goggles and looks ridiculous, but will be able to see.
There is an error message that plays in the old tongue: "Failure, licensed mage required." It plays audibly throughout the well. Quell comes across what looks like a lit up number puzzle with gems.
Wulf comes across a body dressed like Nuru. He's dead. Wulf then finds the townsfolk past a wall. They're unconscious, some tied up. There is a magic-y guy pacing and yelling about how "it should have worked". He calls a woman a blood sacrifice and she calls him an idiot. Wulf sneaks back toward the safe house and sees the party in the square on the physical plane.
Cali attempts a backflip swan dive, but instead does an ungraceful belly flop. Quell surfaces upon feeling the ripples, and tells us about the puzzles. We all have a very confusing conversation about prime numbers.
Jade swims down to help, and there's a "magic restored" message. The gems sink down and Wulf appears on the material plane, along with the rest of the town.
Wulf pulls us up by the rope and tells us about the blood sacrifices in a panic. As he's telling us about it, "bad snake man" appears and tries to convince us he's a good guy who needs our help. Wulf growls though, and we don't believe him. Then, we roll initiative.
Jade casts suggestion to get information. Quell zaps him. He calls Wulf an idiot barbarian, and Cali makes a yell sound and shoots him square in the face, killing him. Quell zaps his corpse. {don't fuck with our Wulf, bitch}
Quell, Cali, and Jade search the body and talk about how they got there. "What brought you here?" "Boats."
We find out a little bit about why Jade is out in the desert all the way from Dria. She was contracted to curse someone out here.
Wulf and Nuru run toward the townsfolk and find the body Wulf saw before. The townsfolk emerge, relatively uninjured. Wulf invades their personal space in concern. He tells them what happened.
Jade wants to go back to the well to look at all the magic-y stuff, so Wulf gives her a ride down the rope. They take a look and determine it'll be best to fill in the well, and some villagers head out to build a new well instead. We head back to the lighthouse and open a chest which expels poisonous gas upon being opened. There's a crystal shard, and yet ANOTHER "shattered heart" themed letter from Egil. We still don't know who these are addressed to.
Cali reads it aloud and hands it to Jade. Adders kiss is a plant poison, as Jade tells us. We then all talk about why we were heading to Dria (or not, in Jade's case), and Quell thanks Wulf for not telling on her for sneaking onto the boat.
Jade suggests potentially trying the portal, and we discuss the dangers. We decide to come back after we finish the shard mission, and try it then.
