Addendum: the emerald we got last session was a trade with Tam, not a gift. He wanted to take a look at one of the crystals we got.
Setluk says that they did a bit too much magic here and drew attention to theirselves, caught the attention of The Silent Sky, the same ship we snuck onto back at the harbor. Branna confirms that Irrin and Vren were two of the people who stormed her ship. Quell tells her we killed Vren, and Branna tells Quell she likes her.
Quell has questions, and points them all at Setluk, ending it with were you the hostage, or was he the hostage? Setluk is a bit taken aback, but admits he thought he was setting a trap and got cocky. He then became the hostage. He says that a decent chunk of the blood down the other path we didn't take, is his. Quell gets a bit exasperated with him.
We brainstorm ways to get Branna free, including but not limited to cutting off or breaking her hands, and we decide that we should probably go the magic route first before causing unnecessary pain. Cali gives her a bit of healing. Cali suggests the glass snowflake as a potentially better alternative?
Setluk says that it seemed like they were trying to do some kind of blood ritual.
Quell picks up the glass snowflake and touches it to the chains. They flicker and then vanish, Branna collapsing onto Setluk and then the ground.
Jade looks at the other magic items with her detect magic. The silver quill tip has evocation magic on it and the finger bone has necromancy. We pack up and head back the way we came. Quell peeks into a couple of unlocked crates on the way out. One crate has candlesticks and stuff, and the other has some beautiful linen pieces.
Quell thanks the ghosts for their help on the way out and Wulf says as far as ghosts go, they're not bad. Setluk prays for them to go in peace and Wulf says he thought they just lived here? And then has a brief crisis over the word live. Branna hurries ahead, as she does not like ghosts.
We go a bit further down and hear some scuttling noises before being confronted by a huge mutant crab. Cali recognizes these things as crabs that have become monstrosities after eating too many dead bodies. They didn't realize these things came this far north. Cali explains this to Quell and then to Branna. It does not comfort Branna, and Wulf wonders if he can eat it.
As we fight, Wulf tells the crab he's gonna dip it in butter two separate times even though it smells like rotting meat.
A few more crab swarms show up and we kill those. The giant crab grapples Cali before the both of them roll a nat 1 and have a slapping fight before Cali is able to scuttle out from under it. Jade pauses collecting crabs to cook later, and helps kill the giant crab. She then continues to fill up her bag. On the way out, she shows them to Wulf and then has him put his cold crystal in the bag to keep them fresh until she can cook them.
Setluk has a set up at an inn with multiple rooms and invites us to stay there. Cali asks if they have a bath house after we just teased Jade about wanting a bath, and we make our way to the communal sauna and bathhouse area. Jade stays behind to identify the items we picked up that were magical. The attendee politely suggests Wulf scrub off a bit before entering the communal bath.
One of the items we picked up, Jade sees, is an ioun stone of absorption. This will go to Wulf and he can unattune to his sewer pipes for now.
