Session 41: CALI IS NOT POOR OKAY

We successfully reach Vlotdok!!
 
Quell is the only one who remembers Egil's physical description. Jade starts asking around about night life, and tells some street performers that Wulf is a dancer. We get a few leads on potential taverns to check out. Quell hears a line from one of Egil's songs as she wanders, but the musicians don't look like Egil. She asks them where the song comes from. They say they heard it 10 years ago. Quell tips them and comes to tell us.
 
We start out by wandering the docks and spread rumors about us wanting to sell something. Cali gives Wulf one of the green warm crystals from the rock spider, and we coach Wulf on how to talk to the people at the docks for the best lead. Cali sneakily tails him, and Jade and Quell wander down the docks to ask about what to do in town and who to avoid.
 
The only important thing Jade and Quell overhear is a mention of the "Red Banner Council", but they don't get much more information about it.
 
Wulf is almost scammed a few times, until an older lady tells him to go to the Cave Market to sell the rock. Cali meets up with him and they go together. When there, they find a magic shop-table run by a venom-blooded named Riza. He calls out a drow woman named Marmiri, who looks at the rock and tells us about her friend named Stormcloud who also sells magical items. She also offers to pay 20gp for one of them. She tells us that if we sell a lot of items, we need to pay tribute to Egil. Wulf explains to Cali that some towns require a tax for protection if you make enough money??? This is very weird and stupid to Cali. Marmiri tells them that Egil stays upstairs at the Red Sail and plays downstairs at night.
 
We thank them and head to Stormcloud's booth. He offers 20gp for the lot of rocks, and says that they're power sources, like raw divine power that could be used to power a spell, but they don't have any inherent qualities aside from that. They leave and meet up with the others and share their findings.
 
We have a very confusing conversation about whether or not it's wise to sell the crystals at all, and Cali gets flustered being the center of attention. Wulf asks if they need money, and says he'll give them 20gp if they really need it. We head to the Red Sail.
 
We get two rooms and some drinks. Cali pays for one of the rooms theirself to prove that they're not poor. Wulf goes to take a bath for the first time, and Jade goes with him to the bathhouse. Wulf accidentally gets the chance to see Jade naked. He's clueless about it.
 
Cali takes a nap upstairs and Quell goes for a walk around town. Wulf plays dice after his bath, but Jade stays in much longer. Eventually we're all downstairs watching Egil play, and Quell requests a song about Tasha Bloodsail. He sings a tune about her and her wife. The bartender tells us he might play up until midnight.
 
Jade, Quell, and Cali get bored and go upstairs. Cali is confused that Jade doesn't actually want to look at the crystals yet but instead wants to figure out which room is Egil's. We do a bit of snooping, and then Jade and Cali go back into their room and look at the crystals. Quell rejoins Wulf downstairs.
 
After his set, Egil stands up and starts walking towards the stairs and Quell catches him on the way. They open the conversation by mentioning Tasha and that she said we should talk. He takes them upstairs and they gather Cali and Jade on the way. We all go upstairs and hesitantly leave our weapons outside his room. He shuffles some chairs around the fireplace for us to sit, and as soon as we're all comfortable, he speaks:
 
"Please tell me I'm wrong about what y'all have been doing."
