We're all sitting in Egil's place. Wulf says it depends on what Egil thinks we've been doing, and Egil asks how we got caught up in raiding his caches. Quell tells him we took shelter in a lighthouse after our boat wrecked. "Not a very good shelter, there was a ghost in it," she says. She explains what happened and how we ended up meeting Tasha, and what Tasha told us to do. She starts recounting what has happened at each lighthouse before realizing she's said enough, and stops talking.
Egil asks if we have six or more, and we tell him that we have 4 so far. He tells us about some of the locations, two in Schild because he got nostalgic, but he says that the one he left in Nag disappeared. He says never should have left it anywhere near The Orchid Woman. Quell asks what he knows about T'kari, and he seems surprised we know that name. We tell him about Tasha's mirror, and he's a bit familiar with it but didn't ever go in. Cali tells him about T'kari making direct eye contact with them during the mirror test. Quell mentions the boy with her, Brynn. He seems shaken, and asks if she said anything to Cali. They say no and ask if he knew her.
Egil launches into the story of how he met her, trying to help her stop blood rites and such. She traveled with him for a time, until 52 years ago something happened and she told him and his son to run. She said he'd never see her again, and she was right. She always told him if she died it'd just be the beginning. He didn't think she was being literal, but he thinks now that maybe she was planning something bigger.
Egil tells us more about the Orchid Woman, that she still resides in Nag, a bit about their rivalry over the years. Quell asks how old she is, and he says "I wouldn't say ancient, but old in the way that elves get old." He confirms that she's venom blooded. He also tells us that she's T'kari's sister. We're all a bit speechless at this, and he grins, telling us that it's an old tale at this point. But T'kari always refused to say The Orchid Woman's name so he doesn't know it.
He says that 10 minutes ago he'd have thought it pointless to go to Nag to confront her, but now, hearing about T'kari, it might be worth a shot. He tells us about a cave on the way that's the only place we might be able to contact T'kari. He says he tried to send her messages time and again after they parted but none of them ever got a response. Quell says "so you never sent one that didn't go through? Because you know if they don't go through don't you?" This stumps him, because Anaka, the one sending the messages for him, always just said no response.
Cali asks what the crystals do and how to destroy them. Egil says he started hiding them to begin with just because The Orchid Woman was searching for them. He tried every method he could to destroy them, to no avail. Instead he hid them all over. He says he does know how now, though.
"To destroy them, the heart of ice must be reborn. Reunited, and all that power turned not to rule the world or raise the dead, but used on its own destruction."
He tells us it's related to a dead god called Irainu, one who no one seems to know of except ghosts. None of us recognize the name. She's older than even the other dead gods, killed before the rest fell. The whole crystal is rumored to be part of her, or hers, or... something. Egil is the one who started calling it the "heart of ice" and is excited that it's now catching on.
Quell brings up Egil's poems mentioning a shattered heart, and compliments his writing. Wulf asks how to put the crystals back together. Egil isn't quite sure.
Cali asks what the significance of six pieces is, and he says that that's the amount that was missing from his caches. Egil's son Stein found the one that Tasha threw in the ocean, which makes him think that even the shards have a mind of their own to some degree. Quell then brings up the "glacier womb" from when we found the people in the woods who thought we were sent by a Fairk. He doesn't recognize the name, but thanks us for the heads up.
Stein set off 20 years ago, lying that he'd come back, but instead he hasn't seen him since.
Egil tells us that the shards in the north haven't been touched yet so we should go there next, and that that's where Stein is, if he's anywhere to be found. He also requests that we tell him if we run into his son. Wulf tells Egil a bit about Stirk, and Cali promises to teach him more Elvish.
Egil can get us a ship to Schild, though it'll be a couple weeks of a journey. He has teleportation magic but suggests against it, as he once got half an assassin at the top of a hill. Wulf insists that ships are good and he is good on ships and does not want to try magic travel. He then concludes that he has seen enough of the world and can go back to Stirk now.
Jade asks if Egil has any kind of protection against The Orchid Woman, and when asked to elaborate, tells him that she was contracted against her will. He says he'll ask around for her, "but I'm afraid you might be facing some difficult choices".
