last session: Cali buys some cool stuff at a vendors table at the cave market. Wulf and Quell walk in and run into Cali. The three of them approach the dude with the amber gems. We get as much as he has but he says the captain is going to want more. We drop off the gems at the ship and Wulf is worried that it won't be ok to leave the gems with the first mate instead of the captain, but Jade and Cali convince him it's fine and we need to all go meet back up at the tavern. We meet Jade and have lunch, and then Quell and Wulf tell us about how Wulf got shot out of nowhere and there's now a bounty on our heads in Dria. We stay the night in the tavern and in the morning we head to the ship and board it. Captain Hathi says we don't have to work the ship as long as we don't bring a curse on it with us or anything. Wulf proves that he actually was a sailor before and the captain lets him work on the ship.
this session begins.
We find a note tucked into our stuff from Egil, with notes for each spot that he has numbered on our map. It tells us where we should go and where is probably pointless, where he's hidden the shards. Cali works on sewing the cloths that Wulf got us into skirts/kilts.
Quell finds the cleric who got on the ship with us, and they talk about their childhoods and politics and such. Wulf, Cali, and Quell have language classes while they sail, so that Quell can learn Schildling (under the pretense that she's helping Wulf get better at his common), and so that Quell and Wulf can both also learn Elvish. Cali is also just happy to be able to practice their languages and have something intellectual to do.
Jade has been reading the first book she could get her hands on in this city, and as it turns out it's a filthy erotica book. She finishes it because she may as well, but then she gives it to Wulf so he can practice his common. He reads it aloud, to the amusement of most people on the ship, and is eventually referred to the first mate when he can't figure out how to pronounce a certain word. The first mate says normally it's a flower but she doesn't think they meant it that way. He is confused, so she goes and gets an old book from the ships logs that is more of an epic tale. She trades it for the erotica book so that she can sell it. Jade eventually asks how the book was and Wulf tells her it was very confusing so he gave it away. He tells her that the new book has a sea serpent in it, and the other book SAID it had a serpent in it but it was not a real serpent? It was confusing. Jade tells him it was a sex book.
Eventually we pull into the Vakpotsr port in Schild for the night, and Wulf is excitedly pointing things out because he's worked this port before. We see smoke nearby. Wulf scrambles up to the crow's nest and scares the shit out of the person in it. He tries to get a better look a the smoke, and thinks it's probably a small contained campfire of some sort that serves as a lighthouse.
We're told that the ship will be leaving again in the morning, but the cleric is determined to go to one of the spots on our map that's known to be dangerous on the trip over. One of the other crewmates is trying to talk him out of it, and we decide that it'll be a mutually beneficial arrangement if we go with him. We will have to find a new ship on the way out once we're ready.
We hit the town! Quell finds a blacksmith and asks about some of the daggers and swords on display. Jade buys some polish supplies for her blade, and then Quell starts asking questions about the goings on of the town. We learn that there's someone slitting people's throats in the night, so far seemingly nobody who has any correlation to each other. He talks shit about a boy in town who just lost his grandmother and is having to make the funeral arrangements himself, but he seems to hate him for some reason, bitterly commenting about how he rides around town on his damn horse like he owns the place. Jade is the horse girl of the group and wants to know what kind of horse it is. Cali sells him a curved dagger and a short sword.
Back at the harbor, Wulf catches up with crew people he recognizes. He catches up with a pal of his who runs a tavern and drinks with them. He hears the same rumors we have, and they swap stories. Wulf shows off his new dancing skills in the tavern and causes multiple other people to join him in chaotic, disjointed dancing. Wulf asks his friend if he wants to join us on our journey and says to leave a message for him if he decides to.
We start heading down the road to look at the lighthouse after we meet back up with Wulf, and on the way there Wulf almost trips over a dead sheep. Jade stops in her tracks and Cali almost runs into her, when a giant wivern screeches at us and lands right beside Wulf, clearly angry that we are between it and its prey.
We roll initiative at the beginning of next session.
