Session 65: Cali wants the Tea

We are still on the ship, having just brought up the items from the sunken ship including the marble.
 
Cali asks if we should get rid of the marble that we took from the other ship. Quell says she can ask her Lady about it. She first asks Setluk though about the Seal Queen and the Child of Winter, both of whom were mentioned in our vision. He says the Seal Queen was a lesser god and maybe that's how she survived whatever happened to the old gods. He doesn't know anything about the Child of Winter but recalls a song about the old gods and says it's hard to say whether she was betrayed or the betrayer. Quell tells him about the veridian avatar and he doesn't know much about it but tells Quell she has an extraordinary connection with her Lady. He says when we get to shore there are excellent libraries he can get us into.
 
Quell: "I've never been to a library."
Setluk: "It's dusty."
 
Quell prepares to ask her Lady about the marble but decides to get organized first. She takes Cali to ask Tabbs about what happened with the marble. He says it came from the coast of "near here but further towards the warm". It seems like it could have come from Armos, so Quell plans to ask about that and plans her other questions as well.
 
"Did this piece of marble come from Armos?" "No."
"Were it and the crystal shards enchanted by the same being?" "Yes."
"Should we keep it for now?" "No."
 
Quell relays the information and says maybe we should listen to Tabbs. He tells us to sail away a bit so we're not over his ship anymore and after Quell strokes his ego a little, he agrees to swim down and hide the marble under a large rock. We do so, and he tells us to not go far; we have food and he would like to return.
 
Early in the morning, Jade is awoken by a message in her head from a familiar voice in Dria. He says hooded strangers came and attacked the shop. He's ok, they're all dead. "Blasted red cloaks", he says, "taken into protective custody." Jade asks for details about his attackers, and if the red cloaks gave him any information. He tells her that it was two figures, one Drian and one not; probably "your people". She says message received.
 
Quell casts commune again once she is awake to ask about the old gods. She asks about Iranu (sp?), and if she was the long dead sister of the Seal Queen. The answer is yes. Quell asks did Iranu betray you? She says "Liar." Quell asks if the shards gain their power from her? She says yes.
 
A few days pass and we reach a town called Crunifurth in Laerig. Freyja warns us not to eat any sweet bread, and if we wander into the woods for the gods sake, stay on the path. She also recommends some places for us to go. We will also need to get a boat to take us to the island, though she says we will probably have better luck finding one than her.
Setluk has a map and will go over it with us at the inn so we can figure out our next steps.
 
We head to the Iris Inn where Cali sees somebody disgruntled to pay, and a little too familiar with the innkeep. We get two rooms (for a steep price, this place is fancyyyyyyyy) and then Cali and Wulf separately make their way back downstairs. Cali asks about dinner time and then tries to get the tea on the guy, but the innkeep shuts it down. Cali goes and sits by Wulf who is listening intently to a woman playing the harp. She starts playing for him a bit more and Cali sidles up and tells him he's supposed to tip her if he likes her music. There's no hat on the floor so Wulf stands up and gives her a handful of coins. She pockets them and says you're not from around here are you?
 
Wulf chats with her a bit and a woman in green walks in the door. She mutters to him that we may want to eat in our room. The woman has a large axe strapped to her back. She asks for the best room. They talk about the price and she pays, and then they whisper something that Cali can't hear.
 
Jade comes down after her bath and grabs Quell. They go upstairs and Jade tells her about what her mentor/boss told her. Quell sends him a message and he says it was people in black cloaks, most likely orchid woman's people. They used "divine magic". She tells Jade this and Jade admits she's worried about him. They bond a bit, and Quell makes small talk about how fancy the inn is. They go back downstairs after a bit.
 
There are more people now in green cloaks and red cloaks. Cali can't make out much conversation, and Quell and Jade come join them. Quell asks if Cali knows why and they say no. Jade asks when dinner is.
