"Anaka" "...That's a name!"
The ghost reveals that the village was invaded. "It's floating there and I can't hold it!"
The village was destroyed by water but we're still a few miles from the ocean. The ghost's name is Eme.
"That ghost thinks you're duuuuumb!"
"Cali is an anchor somehow? She keeps reaching for their bag. They pull out the pearl. "That... that remembers." Cali puts it back in their bag.
Wulf digs for the memory strings so we can help her move on. Quell detects magic and helps him find a very old, very big tree with an abjuration aura. He finds them and an old crate. She touches 2 ends together and there's a light. She begs us to take them to "another" before she disappears, leaving behind a nice bow. The shadows fade and Cali takes the bow.
We head off and reach Vaitafe by nightfall. This is a bustling city. Quell likes it, Wulf has resting fight face.
A woman approaches. "We were shipwrecked," says Quell. "We saw ghosts," says Wulf. "We don't have to say that," adds Quell.
"She points us toward Paya, the keeper of the strings here. She is Inaya. "We have weapons." Also, pay for things. If we hear of Red Iren, she will pay us for his head. Red mustache, blue yes, scar on his forehead, high opinion of himself. He was a drunken ladies' man.
"Why do you want him dead?" "...dead might be stretching it a bit..." Quell perks up. "Charred?"
"Wulf is more of a hyena."
Paya's house has flowers and dried peppers. Quell asks about Eme's village. He gladly takes the strings and tells us about the town of Vaitafe. "Do you have defenses?" "We have sand bars."
Cali shows Paya the pearl. He jokes about poisoning them if they weren't planning to destroy it. Wulf doesn't get it, but Cali and Quell laugh. Paya doesn't know how to destroy it. It is connected to the other gems, which is why Quell is okay. A few more uses are left before they try to FEED ON OTHERS!!!!!!! We need to find an Armossi sorcerer maybe.
We visit Kila at the hall. Cali is excited for alcohol, and Wulf runs down the hill instead of choosing a pitcher to wash his hands. Wulf pays for his absynthe by catching some crabs for Kila. He gets pinched trying to return the bucket. Everyone thinks he's a druid.
Kila's grumpy sister cooks the crabs with him. Cali awkwardly clinks their glass with Wulf. Kila sits with us to eat, and Wulf and Quell talk about their races. Kila tells us to speak to Captain Maike, she'll take us to Tagate.
