We begin the session still fighting the beasts in the outer fields. Jade successfully regains hp using her hexblade's curse when she kills one of its recipients.
We continue whacking away at the beasts until they're dead, and Cali gives Quell some healing. After they're dead, Wulf asks the farmers if we can eat the bears and ends up tasting the corpse to see if it tastes like ghost. In fact, it just tastes like regular bear, and the farmer is very concerned. Jade does some arcana on the creatures and discovers that they have all been summoned or created. She also finds some cyan shards and turns to Quell because "this is your magic". She gives her one of the shards and it begins to grow cold.
People begin to emerge from the castle and taking care of the dead men on the field, and discussing this instance amongst themselves. We chat about what to do next and Jade figures out the path that the monsters came from is up into the woods where the ash pile and memorial headstones are. We take Olivar (the farmer) with us and we eventually get to the top of the hill where we find some gauges in the dirt in what looks like the form of a sigil. Jade tells Quell it's magical but not the same kind of magic as before, and she asks Wulf what he smells. He smells dirt and wet fur and something familiar that he can't place his finger on. It's floral, but not like fresh flowers, more like oils or something.
Wulf also finds a footprint that is fairly fresh but none past it. We start down after it and end up at a fork in the road; one path goes toward the castle and one goes toward a nice little hunting meadow. We start down the path toward the castle and after about half an hour, we reach the gates. They've been barred, the portcullis is down, and the guards demand to know who we are. We tell them and they let us in, and they immediately take us to Lady Sophie.
Once inside, we see that the party is all congregated and talking quietly. We go into Lady Sophie's office and see the same angry guy from yesterday, he's still angry and pacing, upset that the gates are closed because he has "men" out there that "could get eaten by the thing!!" and whatnot. We enter and without introduction, Cali tells him "we neutralized the threat." Wulf also immediately leans in and sniffs him. It freaks him out and he jumps backward, demanding that Lady Sophie "control her guests". Wulf does smell flowers but it's hard to tell if it's from him or just in the room. He yells at Lady Sophie some more about how HER mages were the ones who destroyed the lighthouse WERE THEY NOT, and we give a bit of info on what we found but are all side-eyeing him pretty hard. She has her guard escort him back to his quarters and tells him to send some guards out looking for his men.
At the beginning of next session, Wulf will sniff the air behind him as he goes, to see if the floral smell is him. We are all very sus of him and think that he did it, at least so far.
