Birth of a Legend

In the days of old, there have been many legends, but none of them were as prevalent as that of Sura Dawnbringer, though much of her youth has been lost to time, her story would come in the time of fall of the Age of Crowns and the Great Shroud that was cast over the land and The Gloom and it Shroud Keepers brought forth an era of terror and fear over the land. It was from this darkness that Sura would stand up against this dark tide when her homeland was destroyed by the Gloomspawn when she was but a child. Despite losing everything, she did not give up hope that the light would return to the world to vanquish the darkness. It was from this strong will that it was said that the Spark came to her in a vision and guided her to rally the people against the Gloom and its servant and vanquish them. For many years Sura would travel the land, and battle the forces of the Shroud Keepers, gathering many under her banner with the like of Viktor Ironhand, Yuna Lifeweaver, Rinbo Lightfoot, and Hector Sparklight, amongst many others, and together would form the Dawn Crusade, an army dedicated to fighting back against tyranny that had tainted their land in what would be known as the Crusade of Reclamation. For many years the Dawn Crusade would go forth to do battle against the endless hordes of the Gloom, gathering many allies across Embera as well as the Gloom's full wrath.   Despite their being outnumbered by a power far beyond them, it was their devotion to Sura that made them believe that they could win. For it was said that she was a paragon of the light itself never yielding to the dangers that lie ahead of her nor giving up hope for a better day to come. It was from this resolve that she and the Crusaders would begin to push back against the Shroud Keepers and after many years of fighting would unravel the Great Shroud itself as each one of the Gloom's servents fell to them. It would eventually lead to a final battle, ending the darkness over the land at the Battle of the Shadow Spire, where the last Shroud Keeper, Kenloth the Shadow Weaver. In a last-ditch effort, he would attempt to manifest the Gloom into the physical realm to ensure total victory over the world. Yet Sura and her comrades would fight their way up the spire to challenge Kenloth in an epic clash, many would fall into the spire with only a few left standing, with Sura dealing the final blow to Kenloth, however, his ritual was partially successful and allowed a part of the Gloom to manifest itself inside of him. Unleashing terrible evil upon the remaining heroes that stood, as they soon began to be consumed by darkness itself, only Sura refused to give up and would fight beyond her capabilities, as the light from within took physical form and gave strength to her comrades as they vanquished the Gloom made manifest, finally ending the oppression of the Great Shroud and bringing forth a new dawn to the world.

Rebuilding A Broken World

After years of fighting the light was restored as the Dawn Crusade was victorious in vanquishing the Gloom, however the aftermath of the holy war was one of great turmoil and struggle. The continent of Embera was in ruin and its people left to pick up the pieces of what remained of their civilizations. Now it a to rebuild and reforge a world that had been torn asunder and Sura sought to aid in the healing of their world, she and the Dawn Crusade become a peacekeeping force across the Embera to ensure that the remnants of the Shroud Keepers were dealt with and the Gloomspawn kept in check. But Sura and the remaining champions of the crusade would take another role, as representatives of their lands and mediators in the building of a new society as the era of monarchs was over and a new form of government needed to be formed. While the Congregation of the Eternal Spark had much of the sway in the Council of the Rebirth, Sura with the help of Yuna and the Sage, Alric the Wise brought forth in what would be known as the Radiarchys of Embera. Once the Radiarchs were brought into power, Sura would continue her duties of defending Embera, however, it so came to her realization that Dawn Crusade was no longer need. This led to its disbandment to allow its members to return home and would work hard to form a new order to protect the land from the threats of the Gloom.   With the crusade disbanded, many left Sura's side with only a small band that remained loyal to her and her alone and would become the first members of the Dawn Keepers that would defend the world for centuries to come. Sura would become the Paragon of the order and would do it justice by making it an order with no allegiances, as Embera was to be protected by them. At that time Sura would start her own family with a man named Randolph the Stout and had two daughters, named Lili and Zuri both taking after their mother and later joining the keepers. Sura would continue her duties as Paragon of the Dawn Keepers, ensuring that the Gloom's influence would not gain power under their watchful gaze and having the Radiarchys recognize the fledgling order as protectors of the world. Many years would pass as scars inflicted by the Great Shroud faded, yet Sura remained vigilant even as the world had forgotten the horrors that once existed across the land. It would serve her well, as she would go into battle one last time as she fought against a cult of Gloom worshipers known as the Revealers of the Dark, who attempted to open a Gloom Rift in the Radiarch of Esobrel which cost her life after being struck down with powerful Banecraft in order to stop the rift from open and her sacrifice would save many lives. After her death, many would mourn her passing as a great light had been extinguished from the world, for this light was one responsible for casting out the darkness and it would never be forgotten.

In Remembrance of a Savior

More than a thousand years later, Sura Lightbringer still remains to be the name of a hero all across Embera, being responsible for much of the foundations of the civilization today, along with being a symbol as a protector and preserver of the light. After her death, the congregation would grant her the status of Starward, becoming one of the many stars in the sky that held back the Gloom's endless void. Many of today's youths aspire to be like her of faith and dedication to do what is right as her tales are told even today for all ages to listen to. Despite the Dawn Keepers that she helped found no longer existing today, many new orders trying to take their place often use her morals and teaching to ensure that they can remain true to her vision. Finally, she would be the first to be honored in the celebration known as the Day of Remembrance all across the continent for her long life of service to the people. Ensure that despite the centuries that have passed her legend would remain for all to be inspired by it.
