Signal Towers

This may be one of many towers that are found across the land, but each one is important to ensure the safety of the people from all threats from dark to sinister all the same. - Tower Signaler
Signal Towers are considered a common sight across the Continent of Embera due to them being necessary for the safety and protection of the land and its people. These towers are under the direct control of each of the Radiarchys of Embera as a means of defense against the many dangers that exist on the continent from the Gloomspawn to natural disasters and is done the Spectrum Signaling to ensure that the message is delivered at breakneck speeds to ensure they are dealt with as quickly as possible.

Purpose / Function

Signal towers are created a means of Defense against any threats sighted near them. When a threat is spot the tower lights up using Spectrum Signaling with its light being able to be seen by other signal tower that are several miles apart from other. The message is then delivered to the towers and relayed to the towers near them, traveling across entire region if need to give warning to the authorities and the people.

Architecture

Signal towers vary in how they are built and what they are made of. Often made of stone in order to last longer, however, design and building methods are vastly different in location and region they are in. Most are made with resources available in the region, yet retain their tower shape and systems that are used.

History

Defensive Network

During the early years of the Age of Rebirth and the founding of the Watcher Corps, a series of plans were devised that were meant to enable faster means of communication across large swaths of land to react to possible threats at a much faster rate. Several ideas were chosen such as messenger birds and riders were considered, yet both were not as fast as they should be. Then the idea of towers being brought up to deliver signals was the best option and would have a steady reaction time to deliver them. The idea was quickly put into action and soon the Radiarchys would adopt the idea with hundreds if not thousands of signal towers built across the continent. This system of towers allowed the Wacher Corps to have a much easier time responding to threats at a much faster rate as local forces could mobilize once a message was sent. Resulting in the saving of many lives and stop of how much destruction that would come with it.   Of course, as time progressed and the never-ending threats continue to get more and more severe as the centuries passed, fire signals were no longer a valid option to use due to their flaws in it such as being difficult to see in terrible weather, the difficulty of ascertaining their meanings and the possibility that it could get dosed if water got into it. So a new source was needed with some ideas of light and mirrors being used to signal, but that was flawed as well, then Spectrum Crystals were brought up and it uses. The idea was then examined more closely and Spectrum Signaling was created soon after along with the standardized Watcher Spectrum Coding. Making all the more effective in dealing with the many dangers and reaction time need to deal with them as more would be replaced with Spectrum Crystals. Today many towers still stand to this day and are used daily in the defense of the land.

Undermanned Posts

How is anyone supposed to keep a lookout for trouble, when there are not enough of us to keep watch out here? - Tower Sentry
Since the Duskfall and the turmoil that it brought, the Watcher Corps have been unable to properly maintain many of their towers being undermanned and lacking supplies to function. Leaving to potential dangers that could get past the towers should a sentry be unable to spot them due longer watch shifts and no one to relieve with exhaustion taking over. What’s more should anyone or anything attack the tower, the lack of defenders or proper maintenance could result in it being lost and allowing threats to enter unopposed until reported.
