Star Gems are a peculiar type of crystal that is currently only found in the Theron Isles and are highly valued due to their properties of containing powerful abundances of light within that capable repelling Gloomspawn within their reach.

A Source of Light

When the Theron Isles were first being explored, many people had found little of valuable resources as they were unable to fully explore the islands due to the dangers that were present and lack the necessary protection to protect themselves from Gloomspawn as no defenses were built yet to combat them as it took great amounts of resources to build them. It was not until the explores finally arrived on the island of Ilonest that it would all change. For deep within the rocks they found a as shining gem that was a bright as a star with the explorers naming the star gems from that fact.
It became clear that the gems also have great power to them as they were able to ward off the Gloom Spawn and even help with halting that effects of Gloomification for a time. Making them highly sought after in the isles and to anyone who can afford them in Embera as they are a just as effect as Radiance. Allowing for a individual to carry one or a settlement to set up wards to ensure protection against the servants of the Gloom. Yet only those with the wealth to afford them as monopoly exists on mining the gems are they are limited. Which none can really blame the people selling them a they risk life and limb to get their hands on them.

Due to the gems only being found on the island of Ilonest, the gems are quick expensive, especially since the harsh terrain of the island they are found on is dangerous to mine due to the unstable terrain and costly since deposit are difficult to find.

Many wonder how the star gems have the light that resides with them, for its source is not from Radiance at all. Making it much more mysterious as to where these gems indeed come from. With theories ranging from being created during the Radiant Dawn to more reasonable theories involving a Starfall that came a long time ago. Yet many often wonder why more of these gems are found across the world as they seemed to be only found in one place in the world.
