Calrenya, Ruins of Silence
We must heed the wisdom of the elders, for no one should dare venture to the ruins for it is a sacred place where the dead shall find eternal peace so long as we do not disturb them. - Senjuese VillagerIn the lands of Senju where all things spiritual are sacred, one set of ruins dating back to the Dawn Age holds a special place for the inhabitants. While the ruins still hold danger in them, it is often from Gloomspawn, but the spirits of the dead who are often unable to pass on into the next life for one reason or another with it usually being referred to as Calrenya, the "Tomb of the Restless" as its real name has long been forgotten.
Purpose / Function
The ruins are considered a resting place for lost spirits that cannot pass on to the afterlife where they may sleep in silence and undisturbed by the living world outside the dark and quiet halls of the ruins.
History
A Place of Quiet
Not much is known about the ruins or the Scions of the Dawn that built them, only that they were built on top of a waterfall on the Emerald Cliffs, isolated from any sign of civilization for miles around. The history tied to it is an old legend about how it became a sanctuary for lost souls with the aid of a devout monk who sought to give them peace when they could not find it themselves. This happened because of an imbalance with the world that led to the spirits of the dead being unable to let go of their struggles in life and tormented the living because of it. The ruins would become their home as its peaceful and serene atmosphere allowed them to let go of their woes and find peace within its abandoned walls. It has been such a place ever since with spirits old and new living here sleeping away their troubles until they can find a way to pass on into the next life. Therefore, no one dares to enter this place or become tormented by the spirits should they be awakened by anyone who dares set foot into their resting place. Those who are even permitted to enter the ruins are often from the holy orders or a monk who seeks to lead spirits that wander the wilderness to Calrenya. It is usually believed that the spirits hold no ill will to those devoted to faith knowing that their intention is being seen as pure and just. Many of them have also come to try and lay these spirits to rest in the hopes of freeing them of their tormented existence of living death with some success now and again. But like always many spirits remain and more soon show up over time, making this place their tomb where they may sleep and forget their situation until they come that they may find their way to the afterlife.

The dead should stay dead and if they cannot then let them sleep in silence. - MonkThere is a good reason why people find this place to be ominous and stay away from it every chance they get as it's mainly due to the unnatural silence that exists there. While it may seem obvious that ruins would seem quiet since no one living can be found here except spirits, their presence leaves a strangeness that devoids it of any sound. Leaving a living an eerie feeling for anyone living to enter this place as if they were never meant to be in such a place and stay far away from it as much as possible.
