Black Obelisk
The Black Rock Inn was given its name because of a massive black obelisk that protrudes from the earth behind the building. It is well known for its exquisite meals combining assorted baked delicacies with portions of barbecued pork, served with a mug of spicy beer or a goblet of fine wine.
The owners of the establishment are the orcsÂ
Strawberry and her brother
Singh. The siblings moved to
Bridgeport about 8 years ago, but decided to set up their tavern in an abandoned building along the road that connects Bridgeport and
Holinda. Each morning they travel with their donkey and a cart to Bridgeport, returning with an abundance of groceries they need for the day.
During the day, a large number of individuals come into the tavern. At midday, travellers arriving by ship at Holinda with a destination in Bridgeport, as well as regulars from Bridgeport, begin to flood in to enjoy the delectable meals that have been prepared for them all morning. At dusk, the tavern serves its last supper, and it closes doors a short time later. Their giant dog Brutus ensures that there is no thievery going on during the night hours.
Noteworthy Patrons
Grandolph Grieck and Plektrum Rockbreaker
Grandolph Grieck by Dean Spencer
Plektrum Rockbreaker by Dean Spencer
A huge table will be provided for
Grandolph Grieck and
Plektrum Rockbreaker when they come to the bar once a month, as they are regulars there. They will sit at their table from lunch until evening, with a number of individuals coming and going, dropping stuff, getting items, and having a little conversation with the two of them. If they are approached by a random person, they will explain that they are collectors of art and rare plants and that today is the day for new acquisitions.
Jamond
When not working on sculptures,
Jamond is sitting in the tavern, writing poems or learning his passages for a play at the
Opera House. With a bit of luck, visitors can enjoy him reciting a line or two. Jamond is appreciating the sweet treats available in the tavern, and Strawberry is providing him with inspiration for his poetry.
Baltha and Thessaly Cadenza
Once a week,
Baltha Cadenza and his wife
Thessaly are visiting the Black Rock Tavern. The location serves as a retreat for them after a long day's work and from the steady stream of individuals who come to them with a variety of requests. They would like not to be talked to while dining at the tavern, and anyone who attempts to do so will be asked to leave them alone and talk to them another day when they are back in the city.
Donero Chuanche
Visiting the tavern increases your chances of running into the bard
Donero Chuanche. In exchange for bread and ale, he frequently entertains the visitors with songs or bizarre stories that he makes up on the spot. In addition, he makes sexual overtures toward Strawberry when Singh is not looking, but she politely rejects his advances.
Bulletin Board
A bulletin board is located at the entrance, where visitors may post tiny notices with their demands on them to be shown:
