Artigo

The Artigo is an impressive multi-deck hulk, a weathered and storied vessel permanently moored at the far end of the harbour, just outside the heart of Bridgeport. Its towering masts, stripped of sails, loom over the surrounding waters like a sentinel of old, while its hull bears the scars of countless voyages - evidence of battles fought, storms weathered, and adventures long past. Now repurposed as a floating haven, the Artigo serves a variety of functions, from clandestine meetings and shadowy deals to hosting extravagant gatherings for those who prefer discretion.   To reach the Artigo, you’ll need to find a dwarf named Berny Arcourt, a gruff yet reliable figure known to frequent the docks. Berny is easy to spot thanks to his signature red beard braided with silver charms and his ever-present wide-brimmed hat. A seasoned sailor, occasional smuggler, and avid collector of pipes, Berny knows the harbour better than anyone and has an exclusive arrangement for him and his team to ferry select passengers to the ship. His small rowing boats, affectionately nicknamed The Gull I, II, III, and IV, are surprisingly swift, despite their weathered appearance.   Berny doesn’t offer his services to just anyone. You’ll need to approach him with a convincing reason - or the right amount of coin - to gain passage. Once aboard one of the Gulls, his men navigate the treacherous harbour waters with ease, dodging both fishing vessels and the prying eyes of city watch patrols.   The journey to the Artigo offers a unique perspective of the city’s harbour, from the busy docks alive with trade and chatter to the quieter waters where the ship rests in serene isolation. As you draw closer, the sheer size of the Artigo becomes apparent, its decks bustling with activity or eerily quiet, depending on the time and purpose of your visit. Whatever your reason for venturing to the Artigo, it promises to be an experience you won’t soon forget.

The Upper Deck

The upper deck is a hive of activity, seamlessly blending practicality with leisure. The rear section houses the storerooms, kitchen, and private quarters for the staff. The storerooms are meticulously organised, filled with barrels of fine ale, crates of fresh produce, and exotic spices that ensure the ship’s reputation for exceptional cuisine. The kitchen, managed by a team of skilled cooks, is a bustling space filled with the sounds of sizzling pans and the mouthwatering aroma of roasted meats and freshly baked bread.

Keel and Compass

What every visitor to the Artigo is sure to encounter is the lively and welcoming tavern (and gambling place) located on the upper deck, a central hub for both the ship’s crew and any guests lucky enough to gain passage. The tavern is managed by Erin Maycey, a sharp-witted and cheerful female Kendric with an undeniable knack for hospitality. Erin’s tavern, aptly named Keel and Compass, is renowned for its warm atmosphere, strong drinks, and the eclectic assortment of patrons it attracts - ranging from seasoned sailors and dock workers to high-profile guests seeking a bit of anonymity.

Bridgeport
The map of Bridgeport, a harbour city located in the south of Farenia, showcases a maritime center characterized by vibrant activity and bustling trade.

Erin Maycey
Erin is as adept with people as she is with her signature drinks, which range from simple, hearty ales to more exotic concoctions she’s perfected over the years. Her signature drink, the Stormbreaker, is a mix of rum, citrus, and a secret spice that locals swear can put a fire in your belly and a spring in your step. Those who venture to the tavern often leave with a bit more than they bargained for - whether it’s a new ally, a promising lead, or a funny (or embarrassing) story to tell.

Erin Maycey
Erin, with her short stature and vibrant red hair, can often be seen darting around the tavern with an energy that belies her size. Despite her diminutive frame, she has a commanding presence behind the bar, effortlessly managing the ebb and flow of orders while maintaining a sharp eye on the room. Her keen sense of humour and quick tongue make her a favourite among regulars, and she’s known for engaging guests with stories, local gossip, and the occasional impromptu game of cards or dice.   The tavern itself is cosy yet busy, with dark wood furniture and the scent of roasted meats and spiced ales hanging in the air. The walls are adorned with nautical maps, relics from past voyages, and curious trinkets from far-off lands, each piece telling a story. A large fireplace crackles at one end, providing warmth on colder nights and adding to the tavern’s welcoming glow. The bar, stocked with a variety of local and exotic spirits, is a place where business deals are struck in hushed tones, new friendships are forged over mugs of ale, and secrets are shared with those who know where to listen.   The tavern is also a sprawling gaming hall, outfitted with several tables hosting a variety of games. From dice and cards to more exotic games from distant lands, the gaming hall is alive with laughter, tension, and the clinking of coins changing hands. The kitchen staff provide table service, delivering platters of food and drinks directly to players, ensuring no one has to leave their lucky seat.   For those seeking more privacy - or higher stakes - six secluded gambling rooms encircle the gaming hall. These private chambers are soundproofed and outfitted with rich, dark wood furniture, velvet curtains, and even enchanted lanterns that dim or brighten with a touch. Here, noble patrons, merchants, and shady characters alike conduct high-stakes games far from prying eyes.

Nice One.

The Artigo is such an evocative setting—weathered, storied, and brimming with intrigue. The mix of high society secrecy and shadowy dealings makes it feel like a place where anything could happen. Berny Arcourt is a fantastic touch—love how his red beard and silver charms make him instantly recognizable. And the Keel and Compass? That’s the kind of lively, character-driven tavern that makes worlds feel alive. Fantastic work—I’d love to see more stories unfold aboard this floating haven!
