The 111 governing mages of The Veiled Republic rule the land and have kept their iron grip over Han for centuries. They are powerful mages that enforce strong laws to keep order in the country, but also make sure to exploit its people whenever they can get away with it.
The citizens live under constant fear from these wizards as they take whatever they want whenever they please without consequences or punishment due to their magical powers and influence within the government structure. This oppressive rule has caused many problems such as poverty, famine, crime and corruption throughout Han’s history leading to great unrest among its inhabitants.
In recent years however there have been signs of hope emerging from within Han's borders; a small resistance movement led by brave individuals willing to stand up against oppression has started gathering support among locals determined for change at any cost even if it means risking their lives in order gain freedom from tyranny imposed by The Veiled Republic.
Famous creatures
- Krini: This mythical creature from Han mythology is a divine hooved animal, often resembling a unicorn or qilin. It's said to have the power to bring good luck and ward off evil spirits. The kirin is also believed to be able to distinguish between right and wrong, punishing those who commit wrongdoings in its presence.
- Uné: This monster of Han has the head of a monkey, the body of a raccoon-dog, and the tail of a snake with sharp fangs protruding from its mouth. It is feared by many because it could cause illness or death just by looking at someone with its eyes. People would sometimes hang straw dolls on their doorways as protection against this fearsome creature.
- Ino: These terrifying creatures are among Han's most well-known monsters; they appear as humanoid figures with horns and fierce faces, usually wearing tiger skins or carrying iron clubs with which they smash things up.They're thought to be symbols of punishment for bad deeds but can also represent wisdom due to their intelligence and strength.
- Dragon King: According to Han mythology, these powerful water dragons are believed to rule over rivers, seas, and oceans, each having control over their own area such as coastal bays or lakeshores! They have great influence over weather patterns too, so people use offerings like food sacrifices to pacify them during storms or floods caused by heavy rains brought on by drought conditions. The explorer Geertruud Smallbottom has encountered one of those when visiting a lake near Ojiro, as documented in her Travel Log: Han.

This was such an interesting read. I love all the small details you've managed to put inside. And I also love the small descriptions of the animals in Han. I wonder how the culture of these people is, and what traditions they might have. The illustrations are great, and your map is really pretty and helps get a clear idea of how the area looks like. :D
