The
Realm of Forbin contains many castles, forts, and towers. While some have been destroyed or fallen into ruin over the centuries, others are occupied by powerful characters and their supporters.
Occupied castles and towers
Many of Forbin's forts and towers form part of the nation's defences, and are home to noble lords and ladies sworn to the
Golden King. Others may be home to mages, rogues, or other independent actors whose fealty may be questionable at best.
A large castle on the southern coast of
Daros, it serves as a stronghold for Forbin's forces. Lord Marlus Tarnam commands the castle, but tensions rise within the garrison due to rumours of spies.
A modest castle along the north-south road in
Whitevale. Its position makes it a vital waypoint for travellers and a strategic outpost for monitoring road activity.
A majestic castle on the island of
Ashris, Bezan Mord features a single, grand tower with decorative battlements and a tranquil inner courtyard. Lady Pelthara Yartan, has faced recent assassination attempts, stirring suspicion and tension within its fortified walls.
A formidable castle in a deep valley of the
Northern Marches, controlled by Lord Ghorllan Emmardin. The castle is a bastion of power but plagued by discontent among vassals.
A dark and hidden castle in the
Missen Hills, serving as a stronghold for Lord Kaprallin Shirr, a renegade
Kazlaa known for his treacherous ambitions against the
Golden King.
A defensive bastion in
Westrun, led by Captain Jianin Shallison. The castle is on alert due to growing concerns of espionage and sabotage from
Remon.
Situated on the northern border of
Jalussan, it is a key outpost under the ineffectual Lord Alshinn Motta, who is more focused on currying favour with the king than ruling effectively.
A vital stronghold in
Parroc, it serves as a centre of governance and trade control. Lord Ulat Vorkeen’s failing health has set his three sons against one another in a fierce rivalry.
A bastion of order west of Forbin’s
capital, governed by Lady Gurna Hosmeeda. Its proximity to the capital makes it a hub of political activity.
A foreboding castle on the cliffs of
Gilrim's west coast. It is ruled by
Lord Seras Halfmoon, who is deeply enmeshed in
Gilrimmon's criminal underworld.
A compact fort on the eastern border of
Parroc. Lord Hostan Elmondan’s corruption and greed have made it a site of oppression, with tensions rising as disappearances occur.
A fortress at the southern entrance to the
Bay of Jalus.
Lady Kirra Frenmar rules with an iron will, defying the Golden King’s attempts to weaken her control over this strategic position.
A massive fort on the southwestern cliffs of
Daros, under Lord Guardian
Orzan Mestis. Recent strange tremors have unsettled the garrison and the surrounding population.
A small fort on Daros’s southeast coast, commanded by the ambitious Captain Frinnan Josa. Suspicious activities and ghost ship sightings have made it a focus of concern.
A compact fort near
Olbrint in
Parroc, it oversees trade and travel. Lord Fillon Pellottrin is a pragmatic leader, though recent strange sicknesses have led to growing unease.
A small fort along the northern road to
Holdras, serving as an early warning post. Lady Kalthia Mandonn’s recent ailment has thrown the garrison into confusion.
A sturdy fort in northern
Gilrim, under the rule of Lord Pajorr Tyman. The castle is suspected of being a hub for espionage and Remonese influence.
A towering keep on the eastern coast of
Parroc, controlled by Lady Silla Walkunath. The keep is a centre of power and commerce, and Lady Walkunath is believed to be amassing rare materials.
A slender spire on the southern coast of
Jalussan. Vesman Turonn, a master
Channeller, conducts dangerous experiments and possesses a powerful artefact.
A massive fortress on the eastern coast of
Bostin, ruled by the bitter Lord Drus Morritash. He has begun to entertain foreign agents in his growing resentment toward his superior.
A stronghold in the Northern Marches, ruled by
Lady Halla Shride. It stands as a symbol of vigilance against breakaway movements and simmering rebellion.
The Golden King,
Trybon Fane, resides in his vast palace in Forbin's capital,
Holdras.
A fortress guarding a vital pass through the
Missen Hills. Lord Folinn Bess controls the passage with heavy tolls, his greed making him a despised figure among local merchants.
Although this island bastion is located within the
Seynan Islands, it is governed by Forbin. The realm uses this fortress to guard the
Olbrint Strait. Its sister
Beranan is a ruin.
The great Bastion of
Westingholt is the residence of the
Lord Guardian of
Westrun, and also home to the town's military garrison.
Guarding the east-west road across
Midrun, White Keep is home to the
Lord Guardian of the region,
Pel Highstaff.
Ruins
A number of Forbin's castles and towers have become ruins over the centuries. While most of these now lie abandoned, some have new occupants, while others attract interest from treasure-seekers and those with more sinister motives.
A ruined fortress on a rocky island at the west end of the
Olbrint Strait. Long abandoned, its halls are said to harbour strange activity.
Once a proud tower in the
Amber Plains, it was destroyed nearly 2,000 years ago in the Great Burning. Local legends speak of a powerful artefact hidden in its buried ruins.
A crumbling ruin in the
Sea of Fair Winds, now used by corsairs as a base for launching raids on nearby shipping lanes.
A half-submerged ruin off the coast of
Parroc. It is rumoured to hide a pirate-lord’s treasure, but the treacherous waters and unstable ruins deter most adventurers.
Destroyed in
1669 during the
Battle of Hapros, the ruined fort is now a hideout for bandits preying on travellers between
Hapros and
Gilrim.
Ruins in central
Gilrim, once the site of a rebellion led by Lord Raspan Hoddarth. The shattered fort is believed to hide a cursed vault sealed away for centuries.
The remains of a mighty fortress in Bostin, shattered during a battle against
Teros. The Pale Blade, a lost artefact of immense power, is believed to be buried within.
The ruins of a once-proud keep, now home to a breakaway cult led by Sorrel Vonnath. The cult’s dark rituals have made it a feared and dangerous place.
A shattered ruin in
Daros, destroyed during a violent conflict with
Teros. The ruins are believed to conceal the fabled Helm of Mornathis, lost amid the devastation.
A ruined tower on the
Dawnsreach peninsula, now dominated by a fearsome beast known as the Beast of Orkar. Its nature is unknown, but it has deterred all explorers.
