Whitevale

Whitevale is a region in the middle of Great Forbin. 

The smallest of Forbin's regions, Whitevale lies in the heart of Great Forbin, and is known for its rich history, lush landscapes, and diverse ecosystems. Nestled between the formidable Minark Mountains and the Forn Crags, Whitevale is steeped in both natural beauty and cultural significance.

Climate

The climate of Whitevale reflects the temperate conditions typical of Forbin, featuring warm summers and cool winters. Rainfall is usually abundant during the spring and autumn months, nourishing the land and ensuring the rivers remain full and vibrant. The region benefits from the protective influence of the surrounding mountains, which moderate the weather and shield it from the harsher elements that can sweep across the plains.

Geography

Whitevale's geography is characterized by a blend of rolling hills, dense forests, and fertile valleys. The Minark Mountains rise dramatically to the north, their rugged peaks giving way to lush woodlands, notably the ancient Nythran Forest, home to the mystical Dharo people. This sprawling forest provides a rich habitat for wildlife and serves as a vital resource for the communities that depend on it.
The southern reaches of Whitevale meet the Amber Plains, a stark reminder of the Great Burning that devastated the region centuries ago. Once covered in thriving woodlands, these plains now exhibit a more desolate beauty, with patches of resilient grasses and scattered shrubs struggling to reclaim the land.
The White River rises in the Forn Crags and tumbles southwards through Whitevale, meeting the Fahl at Irnassa at is flows southeast from the Nythran Forest. The waters of these rivers sustain the diverse ecosystems of the region and provide essential resources for the inhabitants. These rivers not only support agriculture but also serve as vital trade routes, connecting the settlements throughout the region.

Flora

Whitevale boasts a rich variety of plant life, thriving in its diverse environments. The Nythran Forest is a treasure trove of flora, with towering Fir and Oak trees creating a dense canopy overhead. The forest floor is alive with vibrant undergrowth, including medicinal plants like Arraxosa, whose bright red petals are highly sought after for healing purposes. Patches of the fragrant Firevine add splashes of color to the shadows, while the elusive Xalrith vine hides in the underbrush, known for its toxic sap.
The Amber Plains, despite their harsh conditions, feature hardy grasses and shrubs like Bloodpetal and Estinar, which cling to life in the arid soil. This resilience offers a glimpse of the beauty that can emerge even from desolation, with wildlife adapting to the sparse vegetation.

Fauna

The fauna of Whitevale is as diverse as its flora, with a range of species adapted to the region's varied environments. The nearby Nythran Forest is home to a plethora of wildlife, including golden squirrels that scamper among the branches and elusive Vorind that hunt in the shadows. Deer and wild boars are commonly seen roaming the undergrowth, while predators such as Rhakkor are occasionally encountered in the wildest corners of the region. In the Amber Plains, scavengers like crows and vultures patrol the skies in search of carrion.

Inhabitants

The people of Whitevale are deeply connected to their land, shaped by the natural beauty and history that surrounds them.
The only major settlement is the town of Irnassa. It is from here that the Lord Guardian, Jordis Marshan, rules the region. The small town of Whitegate lies further up the White River.
