Shan Forest

The Shan Forest is a dense and lush expanse located between the Missen Hills and Shan Bay in the western region of Great Forbin. This deciduous woodland is characterized by its towering trees, rich undergrowth, and a vibrant ecosystem teeming with life.   The forest's canopy is dominated by Fir and Oak trees, their broad leaves filtering sunlight and creating a cool, shaded environment below. Among the forest floor, a variety of ferns, including Hagleaf, thrive in the moist conditions, known for their pain-relieving properties. The ground is also carpeted with Whitewhisp, a tall reed that flourishes in the damp underbrush and can be ground into an antiseptic paste, offering protection against infection.   The Shan Forest is home to a diverse array of wildlife. Wolves roam the deeper parts of the woods, often howling at night. The presence of Deer adds a serene quality to the forest, as they graze quietly among the undergrowth.   The forest is also known for its fungi, including Dewindal, a delicate mushroom prized for its culinary value, and Redrim, a reddish-brown bracket fungus that adds a deep, earthy flavour to local dishes. Both can be found in abundance during the wetter months, attracting foragers who venture into the heart of the woods in search of these culinary delights.   As one navigates through the dense foliage, the sounds of the forest come alive. The rustling of leaves, the calls of birds such as the Crimson Tarron, and the gentle lapping of water from nearby streams create a harmonious atmosphere.
