Missen Hills

The Missen Hills rise majestically in the west of Great Forbin, a sprawling range of rocky elevations interspersed with lush valleys and dense woodlands.   Stretching for approximately 150 miles, the hills serve as a natural barrier between the fertile lands of Midrun to the south and the vast wilderness of Westrun to the north. The varied terrain, dotted with small streams and clear ponds, provides a diverse habitat for wildlife and an array of plant species. As one ascends the hills, the landscape transitions from gentle slopes to steep cliffs and rugged outcrops, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding regions. The lower elevations are adorned with patches of rich, green grass, where herds of deer often graze, while the higher slopes are cloaked in dense forests of fir and oak. The underbrush is home to numerous species, including wild boars that roam freely, often foraging for acorns and roots.   Among the flora, the Missen Hills are known for their thriving populations of the Fedlassim fern, which grows in the cooler, shaded areas, and the vibrant Meskia flowering plant, celebrated for its sharp flavor and use in local cuisine. Here, one can also find the delicate Hagleaf, whose large leaves are sought after for their pain-relief properties.   The hills are not without their dangers. They are home to numerous predatory creatures, including wolves that hunt in packs, and bandits are constant threat. The towns nestled at the foot of the Missen Hills, such as Misdorn and Varnandin, rely on the hills for resources, including timber and game.
