Amber Plains
The Amber Plains stretch across the heart of Great Forbin, a vast expanse of barren and broken terrain that was once part of the lush Nythran Forest. The plains are a stark reminder of the Great Burning, a catastrophic event that occurred in 286, when fierce magical fires consumed the ancient woodlands, leaving behind a desolate landscape. This tragedy marked the defeat of both the Dharo and Norrans, forever altering the ecological and cultural fabric of the region.
Today, the Amber Plains are characterized by their arid conditions, with patches of exposed earth interspersed with deep pits and remnants of charred trees. The land is largely devoid of substantial plant life, though hardy grasses and a few resilient shrubs like Bloodpetal can be found, offering a glimpse of life amid the desolation. The occasional Estinar reed grows along the scant moisture sources, standing tall with their golden plumes swaying in the wind, adding a touch of colour to the otherwise muted landscape.
Despite its barrenness, the Amber Plains are not entirely lifeless. Creatures adapted to the harsh environment, such as wild boars and deer, roam the plains in search of food, while wolves prowl the edges, drawn by the scent of prey. The region is also home to a few opportunistic scavengers, including crows and vultures, which soar above in search of carrion.
Local lore speaks of the remnants of ancient structures scattered throughout the plains, remnants of the Dharo's once-great civilization. Some believe that these ruins hold forgotten knowledge or magical relics.
