Jalussan

Jalussan is a region in the southeast of Great Forbin.

  The region sits at the southeast corner of the island, centered on the Bay of Jalus. It is bordered to the west by Parroc and the Amber Plains, and meets @bostin in the southern fringes of the Boswood.   Known for its picturesque landscapes and bustling maritime activities, Jalussan serves as a vital hub for trade, agriculture, and culture within the realm of Forbin. The capital city, Holdras, overlooks the bay and is the largest settlement in the region, acting as a critical point for commerce and governance.  

Climate

The climate of Jalussan is characterized by warm summers and mild winters, with ample rainfall throughout the year. The presence of the Fahl River and the surrounding landscapes supports lush vegetation and diverse ecosystems. The bay’s proximity moderates temperatures, creating a fertile environment for both agriculture and wildlife.  

Geography

Jalussan’s geography is defined by its significant river systems, with the Fahl River flowing gracefully through the region before emptying into the Bay of Jalus. This great river serves as a lifeline for the communities along its banks, providing essential water resources and habitat for a variety of freshwater fish, including Darvion, Aldren, and Jolmakri. Another notable river, the Artin, flows from the Boswood and meets the bay at the town of Prinan Dellar, further enriching the area’s aquatic ecosystems.   The landscape is a mix of rolling hills and fertile valleys, dotted with small towns and agricultural land. The northern reaches are characterized by woodlands and wetlands that offer rich biodiversity, while the southern coastline features sandy beaches and rocky outcrops.  

Flora

Jalussan is known for its rich plant life, with the banks of the Fahl River lined with lush greenery. Various trees such as Oak and Fir provide shade and habitat for local wildlife. The fertile lands support a range of crops, with farms cultivating vegetables and grains that thrive in the region's rich soils. Shrubs like Larionda and Banthis grow abundantly, enhancing the landscape and providing resources for local communities.  

Fauna

The fauna of Jalussan is diverse and thriving, particularly in its freshwater ecosystems. The rivers and streams are home to fish species like the Darvion, which is valued for its delicate flavor, and Aldren, known for its speed. Kressarass, the large crayfish, are also prevalent in the rivers, prized for their tender meat.   The forests and wetlands are inhabited by various wildlife, including deer, boars, and numerous bird species. Notably, the area is frequented by Gulls and the majestic Alyrros, which soar above the coastline, adding to the region’s natural charm.  

Inhabitants

The people of Jalussan are deeply connected to their environment, relying on the land and waterways for sustenance and livelihood.   Holdras serves as the cultural and economic center, where bustling markets and trade flourish. While the Golden King resides in the capital, the region itself is ruled by the Lord Guardian, Kirra Frenmar, at Fort Jalus.   Bayon Point is an important town out on the Bay of Jalus.   The town of Dortonar, known for its honey production, hosts the vibrant Blooms of Lan Kulal festival, celebrating the region's wildflowers and honey with colorful displays and competitions.
