Gilrimmon

The Forbinian city of Gilrimmon lies in the far southwest of Great Forbin where the Misdorn River reaches Gilrim Bay. The city is a key trading port for both the Kingdom of Remon and the Seynan Islands.   The city is situated in the secure lands of Forbin's southwest, safe from the regular conflicts facing the realm's eastern shores. The city has grown comfortable and wealthy, and crime has flourished as a result.

History

Power and politics

Government

Gilrimmon lies within the region of Gilrim, and so falls within the rule of the Lord Guardian, Seras Halfmoon, at Darkstone.   Day-to-day matters are overseen by the city's Governor, Caddas Gemmareen. A former soldier and hero of the War of Salvation, Gemmareen is a corrupt and cynical man with links to various criminal organisations.

Defence and security

The city guard is led by Commander Hoshaman, a cruel brute of a man.

Other powers

Gilrimmon's temples hold less sway than in other cities, their influence crowded out by the city's mercantile and criminal factions. Nonetheless, the priests of Gilrimmon are still accorded reverence and priviliged access. Those of Girys, Balcosh, and Frenar are considered the most important.

The city's guilds hold significant political power. The Guild of Merchants, led by Yotinn Jeskalin, is one of the most influential.

Noble clans, such as the Avakess and Tarmoneen families typically wield both political and economic power in the city.

Much of the criminal activity in the city takes place under the auspices of the Shades of Gilrimmon, a group dealing in smuggling, theft, and racketeering. The group is led by Gaskesh Gorran.
