Bay of Jalus

The Bay of Jalus lies on the southeastern coast of Great Forbin, where the Fahl River meets the calm waters of the Sea of Fair Winds. This expansive bay, with its serene beauty, is flanked by the rugged cliffs of Bayon Point to the north and the towers of Fort Jalus to the south. At its heart stands Holdras, Forbin’s capital, which overlooks the bay and serves as a vital hub for trade and maritime activities.   The bay is characterised by its tranquil waters, which are often a dazzling blue under the sun, making it a popular destination for fishermen and traders. The rich marine life supports thriving fishing communities, with local catches including various species such as the prized Bellim-Ban and Kiddri. Fishermen often set sail from the bustling docks of Prinan Dellar and Holdras, their boats dotting the bay as they navigate the waters in search of abundant harvests.   Surrounding the bay are lush, low-lying woodlands, where the fragrant aromas of salt and fresh vegetation intertwine. The shoreline is gently sloping, with sandy beaches giving way to rocky outcrops that rise towards the cliffs. In these coastal areas, various species of seabirds can be seen soaring overhead, including Gulls scavenging for scraps and the majestic Ulmathren, known for its impressive wingspan and long-distance flights.   The bay is not without its dangers; sudden storms can sweep in from the sea, churning the waters and creating treacherous conditions for unwary sailors. The coastal currents can be strong, making navigation challenging, and local lore speaks of mysterious sea creatures that dwell beneath the surface, adding an element of intrigue to the bay's beauty.   In the quieter waters, seals can often be spotted basking on the rocky shores, while dolphins playfully accompany fishing boats, a symbol of good fortune for the local fishermen.
