Gorlin's Keep

Perched on a windswept headland overlooking the Hayil Strait, Gorlin’s Keep has long stood as a sentinel over Parroc's eastern coast. Named after Gorlin, the first Lord Guardian of Parroc, the keep was established centuries ago to safeguard the region and project the power of the Lord Guardian across the archipelago. Its position on the cliffs provides a commanding view of the strait, and on clear days, one can glimpse the distant spires of Asren Tes, the enigmatic island citadel of wizards that lies a little over 20 miles to the south.   The keep itself is an imposing structure of dark stone, with a central tower that rises high above the surrounding battlements. From its summit, Lady Silla Walkunath, the current ruler of Gorlin’s Keep, can monitor both the coastal waters and the inland plains, making the keep an ideal base for maintaining oversight of Parroc’s eastern lands. The high cliffs below provide a natural barrier against any attempt to approach the keep by sea, while the narrow path leading up from the Hayil Strait is well-defended, allowing Lady Walkunath to control access to this historic fortress.   The keep’s interior is a blend of military efficiency and understated elegance. The main hall, with its high ceilings and narrow windows, exudes a sense of gravity and history. Portraits of past lords and ladies line the walls, their watchful eyes seeming to follow visitors as they move through the chamber. Lady Walkunath’s private quarters, located on the upper floors, are said to be furnished with rare artefacts and items collected from across the archipelago, each one a testament to her far-reaching influence.   The people of Parroc regard Lady Walkunath as a cautious and calculating leader, and her discreet dealings overseas have led to speculation that she may be preparing for something more than just trade negotiations. Some believe that she is securing supplies of rare and valuable materials or magical items, either to support her own position or to counter a threat yet unseen. Others suggest that she is simply a shrewd trader, using her connections to benefit Parroc’s economy.
