The Azure Abyss

None know what lurks in the Azure Abyss, the huge abyssal plain that surrounds The Known World.
Between 100 and 200 miles off the external coastlines the sea bed suddenly drops into a huge abyss, tens of thousands of feet deep, as the seas enter The Great Deep.
Stories have been told of fishermen blown off course who have turned up strange, tentacled horrors in their nets, but there has been no tangible proof that anything lives down there in the utter darkness.
