In honor of #MerMay2023, and for an alternative event during Play May, Solaris is hosting a short one week flash challenge. The theme is Under the Sea, and I want to hear about your oceans, lake monsters, merfolk and anything related to bodies of water.

Judging
The entries will all be judged on three metrics.- Creativity - Is it a inventive concept, or a particularly creative interpretation? Does the article tell us something interesting about the world?
- Versimilitude - Is it believable? Does the article fit within the context of the world it is in?
- Presentation - Is the article well structured? Is it easy to read? Is the theme the focus of the article? Is any context and related concepts presented clearly and succinctly?

How to Enter
To enter the challenge write an article that fits the theme, and submit it by doing the steps below. When you submit you can opt in for public or private feedback, where I will let you know how you scored and why. Make sure your article is complete when you submit your entry. It will be judged as soon as it's submitted and logged, so make sure you're as happy with it as can be!- Put the Under the Sea entry badge on your entry by using the bb code: [imgblock:4472209]. I recommend putting it in the sidebar or authors note, but you can put it wherever you want.

She's the writer and artist behind Solaris, the world you are currently on, which was voted the Most Beautiful New World of 2022 and nominated for Best New World. Solaris is also the Summercamp 2022 winner of the Military Conflict with Operation War Dove.Challenges are a great way to get new people to check out your work. Remember that they don't know all the things you do: look for a way to show new readers with what your world is all about!

I love using challenges to explore some aspect of the world I hadn't really thought about. It can really help you break out of the mold and focus something that might be way outside your wheelhouse. Embrace it - you'll find something there that you like.
