Re Thrye

The Re Thrye are a council of female Tern that are one of the three groups of leaders of Gran Saminism as well as the leaders of the holy city of Durbarrak. The council is tasked with administering the sacred lands of the tern. They are also start the process of succession in the Yenari Empire by nominating 6 potential successors to the Gran Father, then the Ni Thrye and Se Thrye narrow down and pick the next Gran Father.

Hiearchical Organization

The Re Thrye are composed of 6 Unnrye priestesses that make up the council. The longest serving Unrye is the honorary head of the council, they cast the tie breaking vote when decisions are at a 3-3 impasse. The members serve for life and are replaced by qualified Unnrye that the council selects. The Gran Father then makes the final selection.

Divine Origins

The origins of the Thyre are shrouded in mystery. Initially as the Tern Tribes spread out across the Plains of Tern they found the location of Durbarrak to be very appealing with its hot springs and geothermal activity. As the Shar Granic Faiths developed the site became an important holy site, a place where the tribes would gather for important meeting and where weapons were banned. Finally, the Tern Tribes had well defined gender roles and viewed religion as in the domain of women. Thus, the Re Thrye were the most prestigious shamans of the Shar Granic Faiths and ruled over their most holy of sites.   The Thrye became a religious body of Gran Saminism when the prophet Deemor Darmin came to the city and asked in his Te Almet to learn from the Thrye. He showed them that the Shar Granic Faiths were really getting at the deeper truth of Samin's aspects. Since the Thrye were the first priestesses to adopt Gran Samism, and because Neerse Vimtoric, the 1st Gran Father, was successful in conquering most of the Plains of Tern and the Yenari Empire, the priestesses became one of the most important leaders of the faith. They have retianed thier prominace for hundreds of days.

Political Influence & Intrigue

During the Tern Bass revolt in 4438, many Thrye Priestesses fled the city along with two council members. The Tern Bas did not capture the city instead they claimed to respect the holy nature of the Re Thrye to pick the Gran Father. This respect to the city and the Re Thrye's authority was view favorably, even if the city was essentially under Tern Bas control. People suspected that if the Tern Bas won the council might elect thier leader, Tosvree Bas. When the city was recaptured the council was forced to agreed to end the sacred protection of the Tern Plains. This revocaking of the scared lands angered the council. Over the following 50-70 days as Yenarian settle the plains, the council has become more sympathetic to the plight of the Tern Bas. Many now worry that if the current heir dies the Re Thrye might be unable to nominate successors that the Ni Thrye and Se Thrye find acceptable; if Neerse the 23th passes away in that time, no one is sure what will happen with the sucession in the Yenari Empire.
