Tern

The elite rulers of the Yenari Empire descended from the Tern Bas. They have the classic straight charcoal black hair and ebony skin of the Tern Bas. However, they are the leaders of the Yenari Empire and most high priestesses of Gran Saminism are Tern.

Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

The Tern have perfected the creation of Slumac. A sweet liquor that is rumored to help one sleep. This beverage has gained widespread popularity and the Rescres area has world famous Spee berry farms and Slumac distilleries owned by prominent Tern families.

Shared customary codes and values

The Tern closely follow the Gran Barsaminism faith and shape their morals and customs around the teaching. One lives a right and proper life by bringing ones aspects closer to Samin. All the evil in the world is simply caused by misaligned aspects and therefore by aligning the aspects evil can be smoothed off this world.

Common Dress code

The Tern dress in a manner similar to the old Tern Bas tribes, however their outfits are significantly more ostentatious and elaborate. A common outfit for a male Tern is a skin tight white shirt with embordered floral patterns with a insulated back pouch to hold and ice cold Cale against the skin. Over the shirt is a baggy light colored shirt tied above the elbow. On ones legs a lose fitting pair of white pants commonly tightened right above the knee is worn. Finally a tight fitting wrapped cloth cap is often worn on the head, with a veils on the rear that drapes over ones shoulders. Overall the impression is of Tern in flowing clothing ideal for reflecting the solar radiation of the hot day. In the night the baggy overshirt can go over an insulated parka to survive the cold of the night.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

The Tern have very strict gender roles and norms around sexual identity. Women and men are seen as part of Samin's wholeness, but they embody different aspects of him. Thus, Women are seen as embodying Samins hidden aspects and are thus expected to be demure, reserved. However, they are also seen as in touch with the spiritual aspects of Samin, and therefore only women are allowed into the ranks of the priestesshood. Men on the other hand embody Samins visible traits and therefore are seen as powerful, decisive and commanding. The Tern have taken the idea of tracing ones linage matrilineally from the Yenarian people that they conquered.

Gender Ideals

Since Women and men complete and complement each other in which aspects of Samin they embody, thus the only right and proper relationship is one between a man and a women. This relationship norm is strongly enforced by the Gran Saminism faith, and castration or death is the penalty for violating this norm.
