Good timezone to everyone!
I know that I've been kinda quiet here on WorldAnvil after the conclusion of #WorldEmber. To be honest, I've been dealing with IRL situations that required my full attention. Nothing major as of this moment, but things that needed me to plan some adjustments if or when needed.
I've also been taking it easy on posting new content in my world after #WorldEmber while I worked on other things. I do plan on posting new content again sometime soon, but for now it will be limited to community updates and edits to my content already viewable in my world (with the exception of any content that is currently being judged for the special categories in #WorldEmber2024 I'm not touching those until after the Awards Ceremony).
WorldEmber 2024 is over! My first WE, and it was great!
Looking for stuff to read for the NYR reading challenge?
Well, I've got a few articles for you, all listed on the page linked below:
World Ember last week - magical sciences & political stakes articles
Happy New year everyone!
I hop you all had time to relax/have fun in December whether you completed World Ember or not. This last 1.5 week, I focused mostly on:
Magical science articles:
"Prime elements and magic": how different atoms interact or not with magic, how this impact the magic system, and the race to discover new atoms
"Rune-based magic": My MC's field of study. What it is and its basic rules.
"Forging magic": The magic of my MC's best friend. What it is and its basic rules.
"Parisian blue - the new fashionable dye": About the chemistry race to discover new elements or molecules, and the resulting new blue dye.
Political stakes at the start of the novel:
"The Two Spanish Wars": explaining how the current king got elected, declared his enemy a Dark Lord and banish him.
" Frequency changing magic": what makes the Chosen One so special.
The centerpiece of my Worldember efforts, mixing real history with fantastic fiction
I wrote many articles using real medieval history and applying a fantasy filter to see how active gods and magic users would change things. I wanted to figure what aspects of medieval society would be mostly the same, what would be different and what would be completely different.
I finally got to 10k words of worldbuilding for this WE! And this time, I am actually pleased with all my entries, which is a change from last year where I didn't like some of the articles I wrote. I am probably just gonna expand on the stubs I made but I won't be writing any bigger articles for now! Good luck to everyone else with their WE goals!
In other news, there is a new challenge on the horizon! The 12 in 12 challenge, hosted by the fantastic Kiyomo, is a year long challenge, inspired by the 365 in 365 challenge! Each month, there is a new prompt judged by a member of the WA community, and a new badge made by the pixel-artist CoolG! I promise you this will be a fun challenge to start off the new year and I hope you will all have a lot of fun with the prompts! Take a look at the event page below, if you haven't already, and keep your eyes peeled for the first prompt of the new year!
Okay I thought I had another one in me but I don't so I'm just gonna leave it at the 2 articles I've finished by now and start wrapping up. I'm hoping everyone else had a great #WorldEmber this year!!!
This one was a real doozy I'll tell ya that much, there was absolutely NO reason to make it as hard as I did other than "Yo but it'd be SO cool/funny if I did" and you know what? I did. I absolutely Locked In and finished everything I set out to finish in December and it only costed me a little bit of my sanity. It's not like I had much use for it anyways.
For those who don't know, I spent the first half of WorldEmber finishing this Zine I started working on and off since February. So basically I spent the first half of WorldEmber not doing WorldEmber. What's the Zine about? Uh, okay so basically I made an issue of Dragon Magazine but for my own world. It's filled with art, 2 stories, some lore and a collection of my unsolicited opinions. You should totally read it cause I'm really proud of myself.
After that I took a few days off before getting to work on WorldEmber, so I transferred this One Shot I made for the Zine (I timed it so that I wrote all of this during December) . It's genuinely SO much better than my first go at writing one I gotta say.
And after that I wrote what is now one of my favorite articles to date, this one had been a LONG time coming and it was the idea I was most excited to write for WorldEmber. But I'm sure that was clear judging from how hard I went in on it and also how I just called it afterwards vdsbfvjkh
So yeah, that was my #WorldEmber2024 in a nutshell. I shall now take my highly anticipated "I have been working creatively nonstop for 5 months straight and I need to BREATHE" break, with a short Reading Challenge thrown in there as a treat. That's all for now, have a good one!!!
Happy Christmas to everyone who celebrates!
I hope everyone who wants to has had time to have fun for WE between all the eating :p
For week 3 and half of week 4, I wrote a few articles I love:
Adélaïde's research project: diving more into magical science.
The Drissoire Incident; why it's important to do your homework and to care about basic runes safety (Adélaïde's favourite event to mention in class).
Sarine's fibre: a material used to make clothes for rituals because of its unique properties.
More character articles, in particular the love interest, Herr Streiff.
Just in time for Christmas Eve, I've reached my goal of 10k words without BBCode. There are only eight articles so far, but I'm very proud of it, as many of the articles this time contain some small drawings of mine and we still have about 13 days left until Worldember ends. Maybe I can write one or two more important articles for Layida. Some articles may contain a few beloved Anvils that I've integrated into my world. Maybe you'll find your name too (naturally adapted to my language, so stay tuned ;)?
I'm most proud of so far:
I would like to thank everyone for the support so far during this Worldember and for the many small and large presents and your comments. It really means a lot to me, especially because the last three months have not been quite so wonderful. I especially hope that with my eighth article written during WE, I'll take a big step that closes these months and opens the door to a better 2025.
I wish everyone a wonderful, harmonious and peaceful Christmas and a happy New Year. I look forward to reading many of your WE articles.
#worldember2024 - #WorldEmber
: The Cypher Unit, which... this was kinda a half-assed article but I felt like making something for it. Maybe one day I'll spice it up. But take what you can get, team.
: Endinsian (Ethnicity), which also needed to be worked on but not as badly as the dracids or the Second Rhanalanian War. LOL. But this one is a full blown WIP right now, but wanted to show y'all that I was working on this. I really want to redo the letters for the language. Again. HALP.
Anyway. Uhhh I'll update when I have more :D

Recently I created entry in #worldember2024 for Ethnicity, mixture of orcs and humans. If you are interested, please check and let me know your opinion.

Sorry I have like...not really done much this year. It's been a stressful month between having to pull my book for some fixes, working constantly, and having to buy a brand new car, it's just been rough.
But I have three articles, though only two are actually up for the competition lol.
: Bloody Journalism Campaign, a campaign during the First Rhanalanian War to prevent the truth from reaching the outside world. Journalists were attacked in brutal ways.
: Ryan Walker, D.C., Yes, it's named that on purpose. Ish. Idk I thought it'd be funny/accurate for humans to do. Bc MURICA. It uh...is partially like Washington D.C. actually.

A lot of focus went into developing the khirophs of Ayun Sovos, which led to lots of new additions and articles!
Catrao - The tropical home of our newest friend, Arelio!
- Brasara Caverns - A cave network in Catrao, housing some treat-loving khiroph populations. I think this is my favorite of the day!
I also worked on a few articles connected to our dear Ebi!
Nahuara - Ebi's homeland! They've got a unique craft they share with the world, and it's a neat little detail :)
Iverra - Ebi's destination! At least, the first on her Path to Adventure! I'm very pleased with the additions to this article today.
Can you believe we’re already halfway through December? They say time flies when you’re having fun, but what’s happening this month is truly shocking! Like many of you, WorldEmber has become my favorite challenge of the year- and for so many good reasons. The inspiration I gain from it is incredible, and I love the opportunity to explore such amazing lore from worlds that are so unique! It really is a blessing to be part of this community.
As we move forward, I’d love to share some of the articles I had a great time writing!
That was all for now, you creative beans! I've reached my personal goal of 25k and now moving forward toward 50k!You can check my full progresse here: My WE Progress!
I hope you are all having a great time this WE! Stay safe, stay inspired and don't forget to #SharetheLove
Hi everyone, I hope you're all (still) having fun for WE!
For week 2, I wrote a few articles I love:
"Pranking at the universities" - to give me a few ideas of stupid things the students can do.
"The Jameux's Jewellery business" & "The Lefebvres' forge" - two ads I had fun making for the shop of my MC's parents and for the shop of the family of my MC's best friend.
"Herr Streiff's illusion making pendant" - getting in my MC's mind as she examines it and try to figure how it works and its limits.
"Nicodème's disease" - poor Nicodème is the son of my MC's best friend, and she's trying to figure what disease he has and how she can help him.
Holy.... I HAVE NOW HIT 10K WORDS LESSGOOOOOOOO!!!!! AND ON MY FIRST WOLRDEMBER TOO!!! OH MY-
I did not expect to reach my goal in just 10 days (with only 10 entries???) and I cannot express how thankful I am to everyone in this community who encouraged me throughout this challenge.
I also cannot express how FUN this challenge was!! Being allowed to just go wild with your writing is just so freeing ^^ Here are all ten of my WorldEmber entries!!
My entry to the Geography Special Category, a barren planet in the Sol System famous for gorgeous geological structures of cobalt, silicon and sulphur.
Entry to the Species Special Category, a race that holds incredible influence over Ysteria and everything within it and notorious for their power-thirsty nature and frequent use of ancient magics and sorcery.
Entry to the Character Special Category, a 19-year-old college freshman which a remarkable talent in coding and hacking. Need someone to hack into someone's wristwatch to send a message or pull off a more daring feat? She's your girl ;)
WorldEmber Update from the Owlworks: The 10k Line is Breached!
by Strixxline
Immensely proud am I to announce that tonight marks 10k+ new words of worldbuilding across Malkora and Ayun Sovos! What a tremendous cause for celebration! I can hear the cheers and confetti cannons already, but they really ought to quiet down because it is bed time at this moment... We'll celebrate tomorrow!
I'm sending infinite love to those of you in the community who sat with me during my hours-long Sunday Sprints stream today to watch me cross that 10k line — your encouragement and enthusiasm made the milestone all the more special to me! 10k in ten days (less, actually, but I hear that's an unofficial challenge floating around ;) )... the Strixxline who started participating in WorldEmber for the first time in 2018 would be positively floored by this progress!
So, what's new?
I'm so glad you asked! As you may know, I've started diving into the realm of storytelling, at long last, and these stories have been the driving force behind my worldbuilding this month.
Might I interest you in...
The Many Characters Across my Stories?
I invite you to check out the main protagonists of Malkora's storyline, Fleeting Harvest, Gidren and Brynna! Might you also be interested in the latest chapter of their story?
I also offer you the plucky main character of Ayun Sovos's storyline, The Path to Adventure, Ebi! Ah, but how about some of the other lovely characters who make up the Path to Adventure cast (so far)?
How about some neat places and things in Ayun Sovos?
Come get to know Brightfield, with locations like Lilipond Acres and Iverra — and this is a pretty neat plant you might find on your way there as you pass through the fields: Brisk Nettle.
I appreciate every read and piece of feedback!
More information is being gathered for all of these articles by the day... but what might you be itching to know? I'm open to feedback on what might be "missing" all throughout the month, so don't be afraid to leave comments inquiring about different things! If I know there are certain articles that people are most interested in seeing developed, I'll be more likely to spend extra time fleshing them out! ^^
See my whole WorldEmber catalog here!
Cheers, to the remainder of the month. The words are flying, and I'm delighted by so much of the community's work already!
Much love, your forever-feral Strixxline

The Second Intra-Continental War. That...have been in dire need of writing for like, almost two years ngl.
I probably will add more as the month goes on but this is the majority of the shit I need to get done. I will have to do more but idk what right now. But yay, that's finally off my to-do list.

Hi everyone,
For WE 2024 I'm going to focus on my Magical University of Lille World.
I've already written my first article, a faculty profile for my MC who's a lecturer at the university
This month, I'm hoping to write more lecturer profile and to develop their rivalries and the surrounding political conflicts + a few university courses / magical sciences :D
#worldember2024
To inspire your writing for WorldEmber 2024, I've created a map featuring daily stops throughout December, each with one or two prompts - 62 prompts in total. If you’re using a mobile device or prefer a straightforward list format, all the prompts are also available as an article for easy access.
MAP: MAP
This WorldEmber I am asking the community for guidance, specifically on what I shall work on first this WorldEmber. With how my brain works, I will gravitate towards several projects throughout December, but for the start of the event I want to have a solid idea on what to write. That's where you guys come in!
In my prep article I have given a short description of fifteen planets, and anyone can comment which one is their favourite. Whichever gets the most comments, I'll write about first! Some of these planets are very fleshed out already, with over a hundred articles, and others have only ever been mentioned once in my world!
