Vampire Abominations
Vampiric Abominations are rare though not unknown, and just as deadly as their relations. How these come about is a matter of speculation for most outside of the Vampire nation.
Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
Created in a number of ways, the vampire abominations are mutant offspring of the Vampire Nation. They are usually created artificially, and can rarely breed with themselves or others. The common methods one is created is as follows:
By Magic. Most abominations are created by rampant magic use or magical energy. It causes the vampire to mutate taking on random traits and altering it's mind until it can't take any more, but does not kill them.
By Breeding. Some abominations are created during reproduction, usually by random chance. Something in the lineage causes a change to the normal genetic makeup of them. Given that the Vampire Families are able to trace their ancestry back to Samael & Lilith, the effects of the latter two can cause different demonic traits to overlap by accident. A few speculate it could be deliberate to cause a new type of fiend to appear. Also, it is rumoured that breeding with Halfbloods or other species may result in this.
By Disease. Considering that most abominations have bat-like mutations followed by rat, reptilian, porcine and/or ape mutations being reported too. Given that these animals, with the exception of reptilians, are known disease vectors there is the chance a disease is the cause of an abomination coming about.
By Feeding. Speculation that feeding on other vampires may result in the abomination occurring due to a concentration of vampiric traits bring out the primitive aspects of the Vampire Nation.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Hunters and killers who thirst for the blood of the living, the abominations live to stalk and feed regularly. Given their twisted nature, they will indiscriminately kill and feed on any living animal they can catch. They are incapable distinguishing what should or shouldn't be fed upon, and will feed on whole families if not kept in check.
Behaviour
Vampire Abominations are warped damaged individuals who only exist to feed on the blood of the living. Their sense of what is food or not is diminished and the thirst of blood overrides all other considerations. Rarely working in groups or under the yoke of other vampires they will randomly wander around, attacking everything they can. They hate many other vampire lineages and will happily feed on them too, though gain little nourishment this way.
They are not as intelligent as their kin and are barely able to contain their ferocity when they taste blood. Usually they will create a trail of destruction through a region attracting hunters, and others of their kind, looking to stamp them out.
Civilization and Culture
History
Ever since the birth of the first vampires by Lilith, and fathered by Samael, there has been vampire abominations. Extremely rare at that point these creatures were cast offs, driven from the dark birthing chambers they were birthed in, being looked upon as useless. Driven out of Hell into the mortal worlds, they caused havoc in those regions they found themselves in. In every case when the sun rose they either lay dead at the hands of mortals, or killed by the light of the sun.
Eventually, the others, the Pureblood Vampires, or the Trueborn as they are sometimes referred to, solidified their powerbase in their parents abodes in Hell, or on the worlds of their prey species. They mostly bred true yet still the odd vampire abomination were born. Usually killed at birth by their parents, who see them as a stain on their family, or driven off into wilderness areas to fend for themselves.
Most still don't survive for too long due to their mutations and feeding habits lead to others hunting them down and killing off any found. Unfortunately, a hidden laboratory had been set up millennia ago by one Dassem Luqman has a number of these creatures caged and used for experimentation. Over time a few new vampire types has been created & bred by him from mutations found in some of these mewling creatures , and he has noticed that a few could potentially be used as guardians or terror troops in the armies of the Vampire Nation. So far none has took him up on this fearing the backlash from the Elder Council.
Since they were first noticed, they have slightly increased in numbers due to some unforeseen effect within the Vampire Nation. None can be sure though it is hinted that the Vampire Families may be suffering the effects of interbreeding. By having a limited gene pool, it could easily be explained that they need new genetic material from other minor Pureblood vampires.
Only time will tell if this will increase or the scourge of Vampire Abominations can be truly eradicated.
"Fascinating, absolutely fascinating. That's all I can tell you little mortal. You do not know the delight when I find one of my kin who suffers so with abomination. I look at the poor creature not with pity or fear, for truly it is less competition for me, and a chance to study the potential of our species.
Given the fact that it may be a debased version of my kind, there is still some potential for them. Imagine a unit of them acting as the fang tip of an assault on one of your forts. Horrifying isn't it? The shear carnage a small group these can inflict in the dead of night. Even more so, during the mid day sun. After all they are condemned to die by my kind and yours anyway. But why waste them if we can learn too?
I've been able to breed a few new Pureblood families using a couple of strains from abominations. And so far they have proven quite effective, actually very effective in a couple of instances. Can't say too much further there, can I? Don't want you to know too much, at least until just before your demise...."
Dassem Luqman, speaking to Governor al-Tyre after the local province's capital had all it's citizens massacred by a vampire army in August 802 A.D.
