Khiroph
I ran off to the caves to find some solitude; what I found instead was an invitation to a family dinner. I didn't think it would be too bad. I mean, it's one family — how big could it be? I think the khirophs have a very different definition of family than we do.Friends in the form of bats, in all of their shapes and sizes! These winged denizens of Ayun Sovos aren't too common outside of their native lands, but you can certainly stumble across them anywhere, if your fates align!
Communities in the Dark
Khirophs are sometimes seen as dark and elusive by other denizens of Ayun Sovos, because of their often isolated communities — most don't get much opportunity to find themselves in khiroph company! These batfolk live together in large groups, boasting some immense family units that live cooperatively and weave complex support networks. Perceptions of khirophs tend to be misinformed due to how few the average denizen will meet; in truth, khirophs are often soft sweeties who are always looking out for a way they can lend a helping hand, as they often do at home with their communities.Cavern Crawlers
Many khiroph homes are located in caverns with complicated tunnel networks and hard-to-map passageways. Some of these caves are even tourist attractions, though the khirophs themselves make their homes much farther inside of the cave networks than the typical visitor would dare tread unassisted. Over time, the khirophs have crafted their own private tunnels which allow for faster travel between their underground settlements as they visit other nearby families who share their cavernous homes. One such cave system is the Brasara Caverns located in Catrao, which draws many visitors with its unique red stone composition. Typically, visitors will remain only in the wide-open entry spaces at the mouth of the caverns, and the daring might attempt to venture into some of the early rooms set on the other side of winding passes, but the khirophs live within, further still.
