A Crazy March

Dromaria has made it to the final round of the WAWAs!

WAWA

Chuck (Stonehomie) and I have worked really hard on this and I am beyond humbled to have been nominated for 5 awards this year. Thank you to everyone who voted for round 2. It's crazy and still hard to fully wrap my head around.

Our Nominations

To vote use this form. Any support int he final round would be wonderful.

All of the participants deserve checking out. To anyone who submitted, including those who didn't get nominated this year, the entries were awesome and week's worth of engrossing reading. Everyone should be super proud!

Strixxline has created a gallery for all of the nominees: here. Thanks Strixx!

Interview with Geek Native

Geek Native chose us as their March's RPG Publisher Spotlight and reached out for an interview. I just finished answering the first round of Q&A and look forward to seeing how it all turns out.

https://www.geeknative.com/rpg-publisher-spotlight/

Art Completion

The monster art for our campaign guide is nearing completion. Yury Nikifarau has killed it with all his creepy and wondrous interpretations of our creatures. He is nearing 1000 subs on YouTube and streams daily. If you haven’t shown him some love, please consider it.

New Campaign

My playgroup and I are starting a new campaign soon. I am GMing and everyone is getting amped up. We have game zero this Saturday. Debating how to keep track of the story outside the game. Currently thinking I’ll do it through in-game news articles and maybe a blog after each session. I want my players to get online and write as well, so hopefully a bit of immersion will encourage them to do so.

Keep up with regular updates here.

Help me decide what to work on this WorldEmber!

This WorldEmber I am asking the community for guidance, specifically on what I shall work on first this WorldEmber. With how my brain works, I will gravitate towards several projects throughout December, but for the start of the event I want to have a solid idea on what to write. That's where you guys come in!
In my prep article I have given a short description of fifteen planets, and anyone can comment which one is their favourite. Whichever gets the most comments, I'll write about first! Some of these planets are very fleshed out already, with over a hundred articles, and others have only ever been mentioned once in my world!

Help me decide what to work on for #WorldEmber :D

Preparations have started for the best competition of the year, and in my prep article I've asked people to help me choose what to focus on! I have hundreds of planets in my world, and I've chosen a lucky 15 for people to pick from. Now I can't focus on one project like this for long, so I'll definitely write about many different planets during WorldEmber! But I'd like a plan for what to work on first, haha.
You can also follow my world to see updates to my prep article, as well as new worldbuilding articles!

October 28, 2024 (Bonus Update)

Hi there, everyone. I know that I have been absent for a minute. I updated the paid Introductory Interns and above, but I just thought that I should also address free followers, dollar patrons, one-time supporters, and others who would like to be in-the-know.   The past week was hectic because I was out of town helping my brother WildZooGuy film a production. Please do check him out and give him a follow. Cool content should be posted in the future and you may even see me in it!   I hope the trip was considered a productive success for him. Meanwhile, I was hardly able to work on any of my own projects at all, which left me with a lot of catching up to do when I finally made it home. This included some freelance gigs that were due along with my creative endeavors and things I owe to you all. I also now feel a bit under the weather, which is unfortunate. And I had to return to my weekend cashier job. And things are still quite turbulent on the financial side, but I've still just been trying to keep praying and keep going. Prayers are much appreciated.   Despite all that, as I returned, several things were wrapping up. I managed to draw a bit on the plane and at the hotel so I could post my Spooktober entry as soon as possible when I got home. I ended up finishing it the morning of the big red button being pressed on stream to end the challenge lol. You can check out The Pages Left Behind and even discover a new art trading platform that I’ve been part of for a bit called New Embers. It’s just ramping up and they’ve added some of my packs to collect! If you’d like to support indie artists without AI or NFTs, you can sign up for free. You get new free packs to open every day, and you can unlock the platform’s currency by completing achievements and interacting in the community! They also accept real-money payment to refill your currency, and the artists can cash out when they hit a certain amount in their bank. If you’d like, you can also become an artist on the platform yourself and submit your own packs to be traded. It’s so much fun and the creators and artists seem so kind. Please do check it out. If you sign up through my link, we’ll both get free currency!   Anyways, during that same stream where they closed the Spooktober challenge, it was announced that my article, Pumilla Academia actually WON the Institutions of Learning Challenge! I was absolutely shocked when I initially figured out that I’d been added to the shortlist. I thought it must have been due to pity or something. I never got added to any WorldAnvil shortlist, and I never won any article contest or anything like that on WorldAnvil ever before. Also, my CSS was a bit wonky and the page had too many gaps because I wanted it to fit on mobile but I didn’t have the time to make it actually right, so I added a lot of spaces from my phone on the day before that challenge was closed on stream lol. In addition, my mom pointed out that I literally had a spelling error in the first sentence on the whole page. In the word EDUCATION, for crying out loud. And this is an Institutions of Learning challenge. I facepalmed so much but couldn’t edit it. Even though I figured I wouldn’t win, I didn’t want to edit it until it was announced I hadn’t made the shortlist (which didn’t happen) so I waited until it was announced I didn’t win (which didn’t happen). Lol I am just so weirded out that I won and I want to thank everyone for congratulating me, reading the article, and all that. Much love. I still feel like an imposter though.   In addition to all this, spooky time is here! There is fun galore happening in the Infinite Imaginations discord server, including a Trick-Or-Treating event in which secrets are being discovered…   I also announced that tickets for the full Only the Haunting Nightmares audio movie (with some visual elements) are now on sale! Last year’s Spooktober project ended on a cliffhanger and I wasn’t able to complete it all, but I have tried hard to get the second half ready for everyone. If you’d like to attend, there are several showtimes. Please check the listing to see if there is a slot that aligns with your schedule.   If you don’t remember anything about it, you can head over to this page for a sampler. Here is the synopsis:

It’s the Thirty-First of October and strange things are happening. Despite the odd occurrences, Someone and Constance are sent on a dangerous mission to catch an elusive killer. However, all is not as it seems...

Much more is in store. Please stay tuned! I thank everyone for their ongoing support, be it in payment, reading, encouragement, likes, follows, subscriptions, or anything of the sort. God bless and much success to you all with your own endeavors. Sending prayers, love, and healing hugs always. <3   edit: I always forget to add hashtags #spooktober #spooktober2024 #institutionsoflearning #challenge

Challenge accepted/Challenge completed! Spooktober wrap up and more <3

So, Spooktober's finale is just around the corner and I am very proud to say: I made it! All 21 prompts are now available and published and the adventure through the haunted "Twilight Macabre" awaits everyone who dares enter. The endeavor of building a text adventure was a true marathon; one that was super satisfying! What shocked me was I haven't even realized before today that I published the last article, that I have written more than 35,000 words in total for this adventure! I haven't written that much in a while and I have missed it a lot. If you have no clue what I'm talking about, all you need to do is visit my Spooktober hub in the bottom of this post and follow the instructions. I will be thrilled to see what you think of it if you do!
For those who have already embarked on the journey of the Twilight Macabre: Thank you! I really appreciate the support and your feedback

What else is coming?

1. I have already started working on Noel's Unofficial challenge on Family History. You can find the link to the challenge on the bottom of this post as well. Make sure to enter this. The theme is awesome and the rewards will blow your mind! Submission period is open until October 31, so hurry!

2. Also, don't forget to check Tyrdal's challenge of the Longest Journey. I think Chapter 2 (link on the bottom of the post again) will run for two more weeks. But this is not all from Tyrdal. I'm very curious to see what the challenge called "Flashfire" will be about!

3. I'm not sure if I will participate in Noverlember since Spooktober drained me a bit, but I will sure try to publish some short stories for my new world, called "Chronicles of blood". We shall see where this will lead me :D

4. Last but not least, I urge you to stay tuned because sometime around the end of the month something Grand and Spectacular is coming. A new unofficial challenge will be released; a collaborative work of me and the amazing CoolG. I think you' ll love this one <3

That's all for now! Until we speak again, I wish your days be full of inspiration, joy and happiness! And as always, don't forget to #SharetheLove

I've got 13 ideas on how to be a REBEL in next month's challenge :eyes:

NaNoWriMo is dead.
Thankfully, WA is hosting Novelember as a safe haven for folks who still want to take on the challenge! I just wrote about this on my blog post but I thought I'd share it here too.
But, if you don't like writing novels (honestly, same) - here are 13 ideas on how to complete the goal as a rebel:
  • Short stories instead of one big one
  • Non-fiction writing (such as a book, essays, or a research paper)
  • Just the planning bit for a novel
  • Editing and polishing up previous things you've written
  • Writing for a comic or graphic novel
  • Poetry, letters, or memoirs
  • Coding
  • Blogging
  • Script writing (for videos, TV, film, or theatre)
  • Course writing
  • Translation
  • Game design (planning, dialogue, TTRPG design, statblocks)
  • Worldbuilding (though you should save this for WorldEmber in December!!)

  •   Are you taking part in the challenge this year? If so, what are you writing?

    Stormwatch Forecast: October Onward

wait no stop where did september go I still had stuff to do D:
Well, it's been a busy start to the school year -- shocker, I know! Mixed emotions with that, to be honest. I've gotten a lot done: my institutions article, Tatete redesigned, Sage seminar given, and even got a nice start on some Spooktober prompts. I have been keeping up with classes, started working for my professor again, and managed to stay more social than I've been in the last 2 years!
But one thing I didn't get to do, that I was determined to do (and so I'm pretty disappointed I haven't) is start my novel. I was so sure I'd at least get one chapter done in September. For some reason, it feels both like the easiest thing to start, and yet an insurmountable task. The closer I get myself to starting it, the harder it feels to actually write the first word. I am so nervous about it, for some reason? I'm not trying to write literary gold on my first try, but I just want to get a story down so that I can fiddle with and edit it into something I'm proud of. I just need to get that start D:
Spooktober has helped a bit, I think. I did write 2k words of prose for a spooktober prompt of Aberration! A tiny short horror story that I've been told is "disturbingly beautiful" and "the most messed up thing you've ever written", which feels GREAT to hear >:)
    Genesistial Aberrance
    Generic article | Dec 7, 2024

Genesist Catalurgists use the blood of dead gods to fuel their magic of creation. However, a rare sickness afflicts these powerful individuals, and sometimes they wind up creating their own worst nightmares.

I dunno, maybe this will help? Bit of "prose warmup" or something, haha.
Have any of you managed to get around this sort of block? The ideas exist, the will exists, but as soon as I have time to write this story, my brain wants to do absolutely anything else but that. How have you managed to convince yourself to start writing in a healthy way that doesn't feel forced? I want to enjoy the process because the work of mine that I like best is work that I make for myself first and foremost. I need to write this story for me, because it's going to be a long process, and I want to enjoy that process!
In the meantime, I've still been doing this and that here and there. Added a Snippets subscriber role (visible on all Snippet articles on Cathedris) for people that want to see short micro-content. Been drawing some spooky Rendlings, and I've just started the Farad redesign too (he looks so much more interesting now). The other project I keep putting off is finishing the theme for Asundris (future Cathedris), and I'm worried I won't get that done in time for WorldEmber. But I'm trying to tell myself that's okay too -- I've got a lot on my plate.
I hope y'all have a good week ahead! And if you're a fellow Canadian, have a great thanksgiving this weekend.

Working hard on my Institutions of Learning entry!

I've been hard at work on improving my article for World Anvil's current challenge! Over the past few weekends I've been adding more and more to my article, and just a little bit ago I added a bunch of clues to figure out a password to a secret article! I'm very excited, never done this before, and I'm excited to add more interactivity to my world and this challenge entry. Hope people enjoy! How's the challenge going for everyone else?

    My not-regularly scheduled September update

This is my entry for September's official Challenge. Its an institution that will appear prominently in book 2 but there's mentions of it even in book 1.
    The Mage Academy of Palynor
    Organization | Mar 14, 2025

I'm quite happy with how it turned out. I wanted to write more but that 2000 word limit was an unexpected constraint that forced me to cut some thing, which i may or may not add after the end of he challenge, we'll see.
Also, as always, i am working on a couple maps. First is the map of the continent of Enask, a smaller land mass to the west of Arros, which already has its own map. I am very close to finishing it, like 95%, which is pretty exiting
I am also doing two more challenges this month. The first one is Tyrdal's Longest journey, which you can find here:

The second one is by Jester% and is called Academic September, found here:

    Happy #caturday New stuff coming! #art #wildzoo #fantasy #historicalfiction #challenge

Happy Caturday my fellow Animals! I have been thinking of creating products of my world to sell them to fund some investments in better equipment for my worldbuilding, however, I have no idea how to market products for a story that has not yet been written and published. I am basically trying to get people interested in the story I am working on. I have some general ideas on what I could offer, such as a " WildZoo: Bundle" ... but what would have to be in that bundle to attract potential readers?   I am an artist first than a writer, and im slow playing the writing as rushing has caused me to back peddle in some of the design of the characters. Keke, as you have noticed, changed a bit. The actual story demanded it... and when worldbuilding.... it matters.   So I will be showcasing a few designs of what I have already started for these "Wild bundles" I will showcase them over the next month, and if you have any suggestions please let me know!!! Also here is some new delicious stuff!

    Stormwatch Forecast: Institutions of Learning

Just a smol quick update here today, as I continue to work on homework and my sage seminar for next week -- I've finally completed my first complete release of my challenge article! It contains like 13 new bits of art, nearly 2,000 words of worldbuilding, and 500 lines of unique CSS! >:)

I'll continue editing it over the next week or so, I want to trim it down a bit still and also ensure the CSS is fixed for mobile users, but as it is, it's essentially 95% done and readable. Let me know what you think!   #stormwatch #challenge #WALearningLore

    Stormwatch Forecast: Building Momentum

First things first -- NEW ART! I have redesigned (right image) the God-husk of Tatete, seen here compared against the original design (left).
She was once the god of beauty and grace, and her former design did not reflect this enough. Let me know what you think of this new one >:) She doesn't have an article yet, but once I've finished redesigning Codod and Farad after her, I will be writing all 3 of their god-husk-y articles. Stay tuned!   --------   Now that I've got your attention, onward to Stormbril updates!   Reflecting on summer camp, I'm incredibly happy with the 8 short articles I produced. It felt really good writing them again (after months of not writing much at all), and I'm really happy with the reception of the new short format for them, too :) People seemed to like them a lot, and I'm particularly proud of how multiple times the writing was called out as being strong and interest-grabbing, even in this shorter form.   But it's been essentially a year now of short, or super-short, articles from me. Snippets are tiny articles (under 50 words!) I started last spooktober, and then in Summer Camp this year I did post-cards that are roughly 300 words. I'm honestly kinda missing doing large, classic style articles, and I'm hoping to get some of those out soon too. Perhaps for a challenge, official or unofficial, or maybe just for fun? I've had some really lovely questions pop in on my Discord server that have made me want to write some MONSTERS into Cathedris. There's a few kinds of Rendlings that need better representation, and I think that'd just be so great >:) Also, I'm still working on the future Cathedris (called Asundris!) theme, still want to have that done for WorldEmber.   On the other side of things, I'm working to convince myself to start the novel writing process. It's harder to get going on it than I thought, because I think I'm a bit nervous to get into the whole thing. My goal is to still create a general plot structure, then write it chapter by chapter, releasing them as they come to my Patrons. I haven't figured out if I'll write them straight into a prose article on World Anvil, or with Manuscripts, or what... I know I do want to make them private articles for Patrons only though, as a thank you for the support they've so lovingly given me. Still, I've promised I'll start it in September, and I am determined to do so. Lend me your energy so I can get this thing going, I really want to write a book!       One thing that should hopefully help is my semester being a much easier load this time. I've got 1 class less than the previous semesters, and the workload within them seems easier as well -- though still just as exciting. I get to research and propose an eSports arena in a real-life project, do some funky and weird digital design work for an elective, and dive deep into the actual professional practice of Architecture as well. It's going to be a lot of fascinating stuff to learn, while also leaving me enough time to write!   Well, I think that's all for now. It's always refreshing recapping after a hefty summer, full of events and creativity. I hope everyone is energized and excited going into September (my favourite month, I enjoy school starting during it, and it also contains my birthday >:D), and is excited for the upcoming September challenge! What do you think it is? I'm kinda leaning towards a tradition, or possibly character? We shall see!   #stormwatch #challenge #godhusks #art

This article captured the theme of the challenge perfectly, showing how a creature in Felix's world can be crafty (literally!) and shape the world around them through their ingenuity and creativity.   There were so many lovely facts tucked into this article related to how the people of the world see and interact with these creatures and their crafts as well, and the featured illustration was so cute!   The end of the article stated, "the sight of a colony of leafweaver bats is thought to bring good luck on any journey you are undertaking[...]" and that sparked a great deal of joy in my heart! Here's to all of the adventures we'll go on to have this year! And may we see many lucky bats along the way! :)

    Not Quite a February Wrap-Up

Hello, everyone. First I hope you had a great time with Cabinet of Curiosities! There's still a few more days before the competition wraps up. I might whip up a few more or expand on the stubs I submitted, but we'll see how life goes. (And if you're willing, I'd love to read your favorite article, so don't be afraid to share it!)   Second, thank you to Tillerz who kindly hosted the Duckuary 2024 Challenge . I had a blast doing it!   Third, I would like to announce I will be hosting my first an unofficial challenge next month! I have a few ideas myself, but if you have an idea I'd love to hear it! I'm very excited for it, and I hope you guys will be too. (Who knows maybe I might even do two??)   Besides a few additional articles to my worlds, I haven't been worldbuilding or writing very much, but I hope after these next few days I'll get some free time to get back into that.   Good luck with your Cabinet of Curiosities' articles. And best wishes to you in world building!   #Cabinetofcuriosities #duckuary2024 #unofficialchallenge #challenge

Come and explore the office space of an oanie, my world's main antagonist species. These inter-galactic colonisers are not as evil as they appear from the outside - they do have a softer side. But don't forget that they've killed hundreds of intelligent species. So they're not the best of people.
I have answered ten prompts in this article so far, all with art! I've also written a quick stub for the A to Zoo, portals, and there shall be lots more coming for that world this month >:)

It’s been two weeks since my first global update. It flew. I’ve gotten a lot done, and started so many projects! I'd like to start with a reminder that Silverrun Mines is still an entry for the Adventure April Challenge! There are so many other fabulous entries, and a reading list was compiled and pinned in the #Challenge channel on the discord!
      On to the updates!
I have an incredibly small following (that I love and appreciate). This means I am very impressionable and easily swayed by their encouragement. For better or worse. That means I’ve started up a section on my writing process. It only has three articles so far, First Notes and Thoughts, Early Development, and Characters. It has areas that explain some of my early editing processes. Some of it is a little unhinged, but most of my early development and first notes aren’t edited and appear as they would if I had written them for myself.
If you like the editing examples, I am also offering services at a discounted rate for fellow world builders/writers who may not have strong grammar skills or access to software/apps to do it for themselves. I’m not perfect, but I’m cheap affordable.
I have not met my daily word goals and that's ok. Flexibility is important, and I'm working on being kind to myself.
Thanks for being the best community on the internet, see you all in another two weeks...maybe?
