Unfortunately I could not come up with a good pun involving March and sheep.
Duckuary 2024 got me thinking about other farm animals. #duckurary2024
A friend pointed out that the multi-colored animals in my world would lead to sheep with multi-colored wool with widely varied wool textures. This has interesting world building implications.
Thank goodness for the leap year or I wouldn't have been able to finish in time! My entry for duckuary is an expansion on the Black Sand Ducks, which I first described in an article from last year about some of the many ducks populating my world, Babikiye. Although I am writing my entry at the last minute, Tillerz' unofficial challenge has been a joy to follow along with and finally contribute to!
If you're interested in my duck content, take a look at the links below:
Squeezed an article out just in time for #duckuary2024 !
Just a fun little article as a creative break from polishing articles ready for the World Anvil Worldbuilding Awards. I'm having an absolute blast working on the finer details of my world, and tidying up the things I plan on submitting, but I needed a tiny break xD
I was already working on rounding out my roster of basic farm animals anyway, so the contest gave me an excuse to cover ducks sooner rather than later. In the course of writing this, I guess I decided that raising ducks is a major part of gnomish culture and a minor part of Mera culture.

It's almost the end of Duckuary! Are your ducks in a row? There's still a little time--just write something on World Anvil about or inspired by or mentioning ducks, go to Duckuary 2024, and add it to the list in the comments. And while you're there, enjoy the many great entries already submitted! Here's mine, a short story that turned out not as short as I thought it would be: Poor Little Thing. If deadline pressure is your muse, now is the time to get quackin'.
#duckuary2024#UnofficialChallenge
Hello, everyone. First I hope you had a great time with Cabinet of Curiosities! There's still a few more days before the competition wraps up. I might whip up a few more or expand on the stubs I submitted, but we'll see how life goes. (And if you're willing, I'd love to read your favorite article, so don't be afraid to share it!)
Second, thank you to Tillerz who kindly hosted the Duckuary 2024 Challenge . I had a blast doing it!
Third, I would like to announce I will be hosting my first an unofficial challenge next month! I have a few ideas myself, but if you have an idea I'd love to hear it! I'm very excited for it, and I hope you guys will be too. (Who knows maybe I might even do two??)
Besides a few additional articles to my worlds, I haven't been worldbuilding or writing very much, but I hope after these next few days I'll get some free time to get back into that.
Good luck with your Cabinet of Curiosities' articles. And best wishes to you in world building!
#Cabinetofcuriosities#duckuary2024#unofficialchallenge#challenge
Hi everyone,
I made an article for the cabinet of Curiosity challenge (1 article mentioning all the prompts) and for Tillerz's duck challenge :D
Set in my Imperial Soulmates world. #cabinetofcuriosities#duckuary2024
Tomorrow i'm starting a new campaign! I haven't played with this group for 10 years and we started together in 1996, so it's very exciting! The campaign takes place in the Magocracy of Rose, a kingdom filled with wizardry but also, a very strict regime!
Read all about it here:
A Cabinet Chock Full of Curiosities, A Boatload of Birthday Shenanigans, and DUCKS!
Someone's Birthday Shenanigans continue with this entry into the #cabinetofcuriosities challenge (including a nod or two towards #duckuary2024 which is the community-run event hosted by none other than Tillerz!
There's still time to get in on the daily celebrations leading up to Someone's birthday! Starting at the low low price of $1, join in the madness and discover secrets and sneak peeks the general public does not have access to.
In addition to this, my #kickstarter#zinemonth#zinequest campaign has gotten a bit of traction lately, thanks to you lovely beans, but we're still quite far from the goal! If you're interested in supporting me and acquiring a super cool solo RPG game that can help you come away with a fully fleshed-out character for future adventures, The New Agent Manual is worth a look!
Very much unplanned but for #duckuary2024 I made the creature behind a universe. The mightiest and possibly most random soul in all of Ivaenni and the spaces beyond the Material.
Things have been changing a ton in my person sphere these past couple weeks. I have changed work assignments and that always means that the new one will munch on my energy levels like cookie monster munches on cookies. So, it's been a bit quiet in the writing department for me, trying to navigate and balance life again.
Even though it's a bit quiet, there's a lot going on as I'm researching how operating systems work so I can teach you! Seeing as operating systems are just as big and complex as building a skyscraper, I have underestimated how much time it takes, of course.
So, while I continue to work on that, here is a small article for you to enjoy; arguably one of the fundamental debugging principles in programming which you can use in every-day life, too! Have a look and let tell me in the comments: what's your rubber duck?
The article is written in Polish because I'm a Polish writer/DM/worldbuilder. Hope you enjoy! :)
https://www.worldanvil.com/w/dragon-s-scale-sandwichh/a/futraczka-article
TL;DR: A furtaczka is a mix between a panda and a duck. It lives near lakes and eats insect eggs, fish roe, frog spawn and plant roots. Their eggs have many healing and painkilling properties, and their fur is a very good heat insulator. Futraczkas are a symbol for natural harmony, calmness and cuteness.
Last few weeks have been productive I think. I completely rewrote the article for the main kingdom in my setting, I tweaked my character articles, I wrote about ducks, and I got a few items in the Cabinet of Curiosities done. So let's start going down the list.
#duckuary2024
I had fun writing this because I would have never even thought to write about ducks otherwise!
#cabinetofcuriosities
I decided that it was finally time to practice writing some story again. Normally I practice for an article or two, get nervous about the writing, then make the articles private and don't write any story again for half a year, then repeat the cycle. I'm going to not do that this time, maybe. Three of the four entries below also have some janky story to go along with the items.
((These two articles form a short story))
((magical girls in my fantasy world? Sure, why not?))
Kingdoms of Cassel
Almost completely rewritten, almost 5,000 words, and still just a summary of everything in this nation! Includes a short history and a summary of all five of the different kingdoms of Cassel as well as a bit of info on who their current (or last) ruler was.
Now that this is done, I am planning a chronicle that goes through the history of the country. I am planning to have a large number of maps to show the changes in territory over time. This is one of my major projects for Vreathe and I hope to start and finish it sometime in May or June. (I'll mess with the new timelines thing for another project another time...)
On my many notifications...
I see them stacking up (386 as of right now). I've actually read every single comment you guys have been leaving on my articles and I appreciate the love, even though I really suck at responding to those comments and returning the love. So let's stop that laziness right now! Before I continue my worldbuilding next week I'm going to spend as many days as it takes reading those articles, responding to comments, and getting those knocked out! If I don't, it's just going to say 800 in two months and then I'll really get worried about never going through them all!
2 days in and I already have my first item! (The first day was just me taking a nap lol) I figured there was no better place to start than to make something duck related, and what started as a funny joke item almost immediately turned into a disturbingly sincere story about the loss of a friend the nanosecond I got invested in the process jfhbvjhskbfdjhv. SO with that in mind, I hope y'all enjoy! (Article block is in the image description)
I had a lot of fun with this article for the #duckuary2024 unofficial Challenge. There are four easter eggs (duck eggs?) referencing cartoon ducks in this article - let me know if you find them!
The reveal of the #cabinetofcuriosities took me by surprise, but in a good way, I love these kinds of things! I'm however tied, as I am actively working on The Five Skies but the subject fits really well the Alchemist's Sanctum. After all, the whole shop is a cabinet of curiosities!
My plan is to write one item for each of the 26 (picking in global item prompts for the last five), and a bit of gaslamp fantasy curios. They will be relics of the past, some stranger than others. And of course, one of them will have something to do with ducks! #duckuary2024
