I've been on World Anvil for four years now!

My 4th WAnniversary was yesterday, March 21st. I spent the day reminiscing and reflecting on my time on World Anvil, because it's been nothing short of life-changing. I don't throw that word around a lot, but in this case it's deserving.

I first joined World Anvil when in secondary/high school - I've now finished that, gone through college, and I'm now working full time. I've grown as a person, as a writer and as a creator, going from someone with absolutely no experience with writing to taking home an award and being nominated for four more (might win more awards this WAWA! Fingers crossed!) I've made such close, beloved friends, and I've written practically a million words across all of my worlds combined. The Yonderverse is currently at around 925k, and I'm hoping to hit that by the end of the year.

I can't thank people enough for their love and support over these years. I've met some incredible people through this website, and the Yonderverse is the single greatest thing I've ever put my mind to. I can't wait to see what the future brings!

I don't actively promote it much, but I do art commissions! I specialise in drawing creatures, so that's all my commissions are for at the moment. You can find it all on my Ko-Fi page!

Oh and also, I have an ongoing feature suggestion! I'd like to see community posts (and their notifications) have a title again. I've found community posts get a lot less engagement nowadays, and I think the absence of a title is part of the reason why D: please upvote if you'd like to see the title re-added to community posts, and see community engagement increase!

February Unofficial Challenge: Love!

It's Friendship February on World Anvil, a time for unofficial challenges to take the spotlight! Huddled under a single, rose-coloured spotlight is the 12 in 12 challenge, a year-long unofficial challenge ran by H.B. Bacon, with a different theme every month!
  I am judging the challenge in February, and the theme is Love! Given Valentine's Day takes place this month, the theme felt fitting. Also, I kinda wanted to pick something other than species, and it felt right!
  I hope to see people enjoy and enter this challenge! The theme is very broad, no template nor word count restrictions, so go crazy!

On the road to 1 million words!

The Yonderverse has juuuust hit 900,000 words, I'm so close to 1 million! I think I'll hit it in the later half of 2025, unless I can speed it up a bit. I mean, I'm in no rush, but I definitely want to get there by the end of the year.
  Hope everyone is having a good start to the year, is reflecting well on 2024, and is prepping for the Worldbuilding Awards!

Happy New Year everyone!

What a crazy year it has been! IRL has had its ups and downs for me, but my time on World Anvil has been nothing short of spectacular. My crowning achievement was winning the Best World award in the Worldbuilding Awards, for the Yonderverse.
  It'd be incredible if I could achieve even more in 2025! I'm so excited to see where things go, to read amazing content from other people, and make lots of new friends <3

Help me decide what to work on this WorldEmber!

This WorldEmber I am asking the community for guidance, specifically on what I shall work on first this WorldEmber. With how my brain works, I will gravitate towards several projects throughout December, but for the start of the event I want to have a solid idea on what to write. That's where you guys come in!
  In my prep article I have given a short description of fifteen planets, and anyone can comment which one is their favourite. Whichever gets the most comments, I'll write about first! Some of these planets are very fleshed out already, with over a hundred articles, and others have only ever been mentioned once in my world!

The Splash Challenge is now over!

Last Tuesday, to celebrate my birthday and just for a bit of fun, I released a week-long unofficial challenge! The theme was water, as opposed to Tyrdal's Flashfire Challenge, where the theme was water. It closed midnight last night, and I ended up with 29 entries!! That's far more than I was expecting for a shorter challenge, and I'm so grateful for the people who took the time to write an entry, and felt inspired to do so.

For the next week, my unofficial Splash Challenge is running! It's a quick thing to get people in the worldbuilding mood before the real heat kicks in with WorldEmber. There's not really any open spaces for unofficial challenges to run anymore, so I thought instead of forever pushing it back, why not just release it!

Help me decide what to work on for #WorldEmber :D

Preparations have started for the best competition of the year, and in my prep article I've asked people to help me choose what to focus on! I have hundreds of planets in my world, and I've chosen a lucky 15 for people to pick from. Now I can't focus on one project like this for long, so I'll definitely write about many different planets during WorldEmber! But I'd like a plan for what to work on first, haha.

What I've been working on this Spooktober!

I've been a busy bee this month, working hard on articles for Spooktober. I'm not sure if I'll end up answering every single prompt - right now I have answered 14 prompts, but for some I have written several articles.
  Since we can only submit Generic articles for Spooktober, I've been writing actual entries using whatever templates I like, and creating Generic articles, only containing articleblocks, and submitting that to Spooktober. That way I can continue writing and utilising article template features, but also get myself a Spooktober badge!
  As for my entries, I've written quite a range of articles, not just thematically but also size-wise. I have a few stubs (>50 words), short articles (50-300 words), and a handful of decently sized articles (300+). You can find my Spooktober hub below!

With over a month of planning and half a month of actual designing and implementing into my world, I'm so happy to have finally published the Yonderverse Stickerbook! It is an interactive in-world system - you search the Yonderverse and its articles to find special stickers of each planet, you click on a button and it gets added to 'Your Stickerbook'!
  As it has just been published today, not all stickers are available. I need to expand more of my world before I can release stickers for more planets, so keep an eye out! I really hope people enjoy this, I've had so much fun making it <3

Working hard on my Institutions of Learning entry!

I've been hard at work on improving my article for World Anvil's current challenge! Over the past few weekends I've been adding more and more to my article, and just a little bit ago I added a bunch of clues to figure out a password to a secret article! On the way to 1 million words!

A few days ago the Yonderverse hit 800,000 words! This is a huge achievement and it's crazy my world is that big. Each month so far this year I've managed to write around 20,000 words (In July I only achieved 16k), so I'm pretty steady on my writing and I hope this continues in the future.
  I might make a journal post when I hit 900,000 words, but I will definitely make a big post when I hit the grand 1 million words. Thank you to everyone who has checked out my world, left a like or a nice comment on an article, followed, given feedback, or chatted to me on discord! This community is amazing!

I've hit Diamond!!

I am super happy to have hit diamond for my fourth Summer Camp in a row. I'm very happy with most of my articles! I think I've written some great stuff, especially in the first wave. The last two waves have been more of a struggle, but I wasn't too surprised, given I started a new job and it's been very physically demanding and left me with little time during the week to work. That, and my worldbuilding process has changed drastically in the last year, and a lot of the prompts haven't really clicked like they have in previous years.

    Goooold!

    Unfortunately, the climb to Gold was a bit of a tough one. I've really struggled to reach 24 articles, I think partly because I am so busy nowadays, so tired when I get home from work that I don't have the energy to write, and partly because something about the prompts just isn't clicking like it used to, in previous years. Nevertheless, I managed it!   I am not the proudest of these articles, almost all of these 8 barely exceed 300 words, and they deserve so much more.     Silver is mine!

    I've had little time this week to write anything, but I've still managed to hit silver! I am currently at 17 prompts, and hoping to get all 20 done by this evening, when the gold prompts drop. Because I've been so busy, I haven't had time to write many proper articles, so most are just neatly formatted, short word dumps.   Buuuuut, if you've seen my last journal post, I whipped up a new world! Habita is a sci-fi world where a group of humans have discovered a mysterious floating biodome in space. It will be a fun challenge, the writing style is far different to my other worlds!     Whipped up a brand new world for Summer Camp!

    So, it is not advised to make a brand new world and make a new CSS theme in the middle of Summer Camp, but I'm incredibly extra and I did exactly that. Welcome to Habita, a sci-fi world with a very small scope, all about a mysterious abandoned space station!
     
     
    Habita

    Humanity's space exploration has led XPO Galacta to an abandoned space station, floating alone in the void of space. It had human creators, from before the Galactic Age even began. It is your job to find out the mysteries.


      I look forward to writing more in this world, but I can't promise I will write as much in it as I do my other worlds. It's more of a fun side-project to challenge myself. Hope you enjoy!

    The A to Zoo has finished construction!

    Just a few articles are public right now, as I plan on rewriting/editing everything I currently have in the Yonderverse.     YONDERVERSE? BEST WORLD?!

    I genuinely just stared and cried when I heard my name. I cannot believe the Yonderverse has been crowned Best World. I've been on World Anvil for three or so years now, and before I had *zero* skills or experience writing anything. My world has grown so much, I've grown so much, and I've gained so many beloved friends that I talk to on a daily basis, that I can't imagine being without.
      I distinctly remember, around when I first joined WA, seeing people win accolades, Summer Camp prompts, and other events, and me not even thinking that I could possibly win them. As time went on, I improved (even winning Most Improved Worldbuilder in SC23), and yet winning anything in the Worldbuilding Awards seemed so far out of reach. This truly would not have happened if it wasn't for the incredible community around this website, with talents from across the world, all kinds of backgrounds. I've learnt how to express myself through writing and that's something I'll always be grateful for.
      I am also so sorry I couldn't attend the livestream! I had urgent family business to tend to, but I still made enough time to scream my sincerest congratulations to all of the winners. So this counts as my "acceptance speech" of sorts. I don't know if this little journal post is just a complete emotional mess of words, but I wanted to write something xD

    Worldbuilding Ecosystems!

    I present to everyone, the first article in a series, all about worldbuilding ecosystems! I've been wanting to make something like this for a while, and I was originally going to write an article on writing species specifically, but I thought why not make articles about ecosystems as a whole!   Anyone who knows me knows how crazy I am about nature, wildlife, and everything related, and how passionate I am about it. Hell, I have almost four hundred species articles in the Yonderverse - almost a third of my total amount of articles.   The plan moving forwards is to add to this series, but if people really seem to enjoy it, then it will become a priority. I love this lil community and WA got me into writing, and I feel it's only right I try and return the favour by providing resources that can help people with their own creations!

    The Yonderverse is extra sparkly!

    Today I've been working hard on the Yonderverse, adding some shiny new animations! Search pages are now extra sparkly, and while I don't expect everyone to be using search pages to navigate my world, it's a nice treat for anyone who stumbles across them. Check those out here! Major category pages will be seeing a significant facelift over the next few days, and then I'll be moving to other worlds during the World Anvil Worldbuilding Awards voting periods.

    A to Zoo's Birthday and Yonderverse CSS Upgrade!

    The A to Zoo is turning 1 year old today! Thank you for all the love on this world, I've written over 50,000 words, made the coolest homepage ever, and it's just an exciting project that I can take my time with. I don't write all that fast in the world but every article I put out I put my all into. <3
      The Yonderverse has also seen a little update today - content in articles should now center itself on larger screens, while the page background expands. Thank you Annie Stein for guiding me in the right direction while making that! Slowly but surely, the Yonderverse is becoming more and more epic and I thank you all for supporting my endeavours there as well :)

    Hooooooooooooooo NEW WORLD! Sort of!

    Friday night I got the most random urge to revive an old world, Terra Ava. This world is inhabited by all kinds of bird people, other birds, and some more birds. This world is almost a year old now, but as soon as I created it and wrote my first article, all the inspiration I had for it just died. So here we are. Fresh coat of paint, all old articles are gone and never coming back, and it's time to make something awesome!   This last year or so I've felt like I've somewhat lost what worldbuilding is all about. To me, worldbuilding is about expression, about fun and joy. I want to enjoy what I write - don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the Yonderverse and that isn't going anywhere, but both the Yonderverse and the A to Zoo have so much pressure behind them, and I feel like I'm constantly having to impress everyone when I write anything.   This world will hopefully take away that pressure. It is just a fun little world I go to when I need a break and want to do some lighthearted worldbuilding. I hope people enjoy this world, but I won't let it pressure me ;)

    Cabinet of Curiosities in the Yonderverse

    Come and explore the office space of an oanie, my world's main antagonist species. These inter-galactic colonisers are not as evil as they appear from the outside - they do have a softer side. But don't forget that they've killed hundreds of intelligent species. So they're not the best of people.
    I have answered ten prompts in this article so far, all with art! I've also written a quick stub for the A to Zoo, portals, and there shall be lots more coming for that world this month >:)

    *NEW* Yonderverse Cover! For the last time! Maybe!

    I swear to god I'm actually finished with this iteration of the Yonderverse cover. Can't say it won't get remade in a few years, but for now I'm done! I am in love with this. I don't like to pat myself on the back that much, but I am really proud of this and I think it came out wonderfully. This is a thank you for two hundred followers on my world and all the support I've received these past few years on World Anvil. I would not be here if it weren't for you guys. I am truly so honoured that I've been able to inspire people in this community, as you lot have done the same for me <3   Sorry for making this post twice! Forgot to add a header image, and that's the whole point of this journal post LOL - aaand it did not work, sorry to waste y'all's precious notifications! D:

    New Yonderverse Cover!

    In celebration of 200 followers, I drew a new cover for the Yonderverse! I've been wanting to do this for a little bit, but because it's such an important task I wanted to do it well, and obviously it's a scary big task so I just put it off. I really like it! I struggled to fill that gap in the middle, but after lots of feedback and a few different designs I settled with leaving it blank. The Yonderverse may be full of life, as seen by such vivid planets, but it is also isolating at times. I tried to represent my different art styles for different planets, from realism (the star) to a more simple style (the ringed planet). I really hope people like this! Thank you everyone for your support of my world, it means the world to me and I'm so happy people enjoy my stuff <3

    Yaaay! The A to Zoo finally has a brand new homepage! I've been wanting to make a new one for ages, and I'm really quite happy with this.     Monster Hunting!

    I think I can finally say this article is complete! Monster Hunting was the first article I submitted to WorldEmber, so I have spent some extra time making it all shiny and awesome.     Hit 10k for WorldEmber!

    WOOOOO!! 10k achieved a couple of days ago, badge secured! Would like to set 25k or 50k as a "goal", but not push myself to earn it if it comes a struggle.     A New Unofficial Challenge for WorldEmber!

    Helloooo everyone! I am so excited for this WorldEmber, not just for all the writing I want to do but for all of the writing the community is going to do. This year I am hosting my first ever unofficial challenge, obviously geared towards species. In this challenge, I would like to see people write at least one species. Preferably about one of the nine prompts in my article, but that's not mandatory. Just have fun and write cool things!   Animals are my life, conservation is something I strongly believe in and support, and I want to spread my love for animals and all things related. I love seeing the natural world in worldbuilding, it's always such a fun and diverse topic to explore.

    WorldEmber in the Yonderverse

    WorldEmber is coming!! I am so excited, this will be my third WorldEmber. I am planning on fleshing out an entire solar system, the Cheem System. Each planet in this solar system is inspired by an Anvilite that I've grown close to in this past year. I thought it's a cute little project to do and WorldEmber will be the best thing to get the ball rolling, as the ball has been stationary since I made the Cheem System article in April.   Can't wait to see what everyone gets up to this WorldEmber!
