Trinket Chest

Hmm, it seems like the chest is locked. Looks like you need a key -- just a simple iron key. The kind of thing that might just be sitting in someone's pocket, waiting to be given to you. Where might you find something ordinary like that?

JOURNALS OF YESTERYEAR

This trinket was here in the chest, before you ever unlocked it, before you ever looked inside. Who placed it here?
A strange trinket you've found, an otherworldly scene that seems filled to the brim with peace and comfort. The art style is unfamiliar within the harsh reality of Cathedris, yet the soothing colours and crisp pixels help to ease your mind. You really feel like visiting it right about now.
This is a postcard to the incredibly inspiring world of JOY, made by the one and only TJ Trewin! It's thanks to him, his world, and his fantastic ideas of using Subscriber Groups in new and inventive ways with his stamp collecting, that this entire Trinket thing is being added to Cathedris. Please, make sure to go and check out his amazing world <3

A STRANGE CRUMPLED PIECE OF PAPER

Hmm... what is this, a piece of trash? Bit of leftovers from whoever was using this trinket chest before you found it?   Hang on, it looks like there's something written on it...
It seems like it's the strange and cryptic ramblings of a madman, who's mind has been overrun by broken thoughts and twisted conspiracies. Honestly, the majority of this scrap of paper is unreadable. Still, it gives you an awfully unsettling feeling to look at it. The jittery markings, the extreme emphasis... it feels unnatural, and you can really sense the abject terror coursing through this note's author's mind.   There are a few parts you can just barely make out though. You can't quite be sure what they mean, but they must be important.
First readable fragment:
The letter. The letter the letter the letter the letter. The letter is a frayed thread, the letter pulls loose and unravels the terror of   he . ...r   Why   Did she send the letter?

Second readable fragment:
Four arms they hold up the world they hold so tight they hold Cathedris they open to Cathedris they open the hold they embrace they welcome the reveal the land the home the place of broken gods within the four arms they hold   what?

Third readable fragment:
How does he know so much? As far as I can tell he is not connected to them. To them. And yet he knows so much. How can he write so much and know so much.   The worrying part is how much he knows about the beginning. Where did he discover that? What does he know? Even written the way it is, he knows so much. He is revealing the truth and yet no one knows what he knows or if he is connected. What is behind what he has written? What is behind the truth of the beginning?

Fourth readable fragment:
The surgery terrifies me   it intrigues me   but it terrifies me   I should go through with it, shouldn't I? My life would be better? I would mean something? I would be a someone rather than a no one?   I am terrified of the future, but this... this makes me feel better. It introduces the concept to me. It makes it seem simple. Simple, yes, but still scary. But at least now I know what it takes to become part of Catalurgy. To become closer to gods.

INFORMATION

Hmm...   Does this chest appear empty to you?   Or perhaps there's just a few objects within it?   Well, you've got your work cut out for you... there are 21 (plus the JOY postcard) hidden Trinkets to be discovered all across Cathedris! Some of these will be more obvious than others, found simply by exploring the many articles of this world. However, some of them are going to require a little bit more searching to find... In some of the lesser known articles, as well as the most popular within Cathedris, there might be hidden things to find. Check out the crumpled scrap of paper in the Trinket Chest for 4 hints to get you started! And from then on, make sure you read about each Trinket you collect, because the lore that goes with them might just hint you towards another article with another Trinket to find >:D   Feel free to discuss in the comments about what you've found, but make sure to not spoil the fun for anyone else! It's all about the hunt.   Good luck, and enjoy! Each Trinket will come with a small write-up of lore as well >:)   If there's bugs or errors, feel free to let me know! <3   (Note, these trinkets are most likely only discoverable on desktop, and might not work on mobile. This trinket chest definitely will not work on mobile. Yet. I have ambitions to make it work on all screen sizes still! It will just have to happen later. After world ember for sure, maybe later depending on my school.)

You're a real madlad, and an unending source of inspiration. This is just the push I needed to read through all of Cathedris, and I'm loving every second of it.

Two-thirds through and going slightly crazy! This is brilliant, both as a way to summarise Cathedris and add some lore to the viewpoint character. The whole idea of secrets fits with the worlds themes, but now its visual!   ... It is also a tinkit grand heist waiting to happen.

Yay!! I am so incredibly happy with that >:D Thank you for having fun and doing such a great job at finding so many <3

The absolute skill that must have gone into creating this article is phenomenal! Also, finding all the trinkets is a lot of fun (I still have a lot to find...)

Thank you! It was a lot of fun (and TON of work) to make this, hahaha. I hope you have fun with it! Once you find the basic key to open the chest, there's plenty to go and discover >:)

Oh boy, sending me on a massive treasure hunt to find the Twenty-One Piece? I truly respect how you are able to keep making this world and its CSS a true beast amongst other articles and inspire me to want to test out my own stuff with it as well. And also try to find all these trinkets around your world...   Which does make me come to a minor feedback, perhaps a few bread crumbs for us to know where to start looking could be interesting, but I would fully understand you want to keep it a true secret to encourage people to start looking and really go out interacting with your articles. What's the fun of a treasure hunt when you already know where the treasure is buried?   Guess I better start looking, I at least found one already :p

Aw, thank you so much Endrise! That is really really fantastic to hear.   And that's good feedback! I've been considering it honestly, I sort of want to give at least a place to start looking, and then tie in some hints to other Trinkets through the descriptions of ones that people have already found. Something to work on when I get more time!   Thanks again and good hunting <3

Yeah, when this world is going to only get bigger and bigger, the trinket hunt is going to be only tougher when you have zero knowledge on what to look for. So some hints and clues are always great to have ^^

The things you're able to do with CSS are an inspiration, and I unironically pogged when I got/saw the chest open. This is simply amazing and you're an absolute wizard! Now excuse me while I go on the hunt for all the trinkets, gadgets, gizmos, and doodads.

While I would love to go on an adventure, writing them is enough for me.

Aw thank you Jontaro :D I have so much fun making these things and it makes it all worth it to hear about the reactions <3 Enjoy the trinket hunt!!

This was really a super fun hunt and I loved trying to work out the hints to find each artefact! Really a great way to test our knowledge of the world and encourage us to explore more <3 You've done an amazing job setting this up!
