WorldEmber Species Challenge
The social media team for the A To Zoo heard about a fun little challenge some people are doing, something called "WorldEmber"? It looked cool, and we're always about spreading our name on social media by participating in fun challenges.
I, D.A.V.E., challenge whomever happens to read this article, to write about one of their own species for this WorldEmber. I know this is a busy time for the writing folk, so just one species is required for a shiny badge. You will be given a series of prompts, to hopefully inspire some new species, however, you can write about one you've already thought about, but haven't gotten round to making an article for. Entries must have a creation date between December 1st and December 31st to be eligible for a badge.
To enter this little challenge, please post a link to your entry as a comment below. Once WorldEmber is over, I will distribute badges and congratulate everyone for their entries. There will be no winners, this is purely an opportunity for some fun creative writing. There is no word limit either, let those words flow!
The Prompts
Hover over these prompts for some real-world ideas that may help.Animal Prompts
Describe an animal species with a bright colouration.
Describe an animal species that have unique sensory abilities.
Describe an animal often kept as a pet.
Plant Prompts
Describe a plant species symbolic in a culture.
Describe a coastal plant species.
Describe a common fast-growing plant species.
Fungi Prompts
Describe a fungi species that has a negative effect on surrounding species.
Describe a fungi species that is commonly harvested and eaten.
Describe a toxic fungi species.
If you don't like any of these prompts, feel free to write about anything else! I don't want to limit creativity at all, but these are just to give people some ideas if they need any.
Hi, Squib Wibbley here with Intergalactic Council of United Planets (ICUP) News. Listeners are dying to know: will sapient species (also known as "sophonts") count towards this challenge?
Hello Squib Wibbley! Thank you for your question. You can indeed write about "sophonts" for this challenge! Many thanks, D.A.V.E.
