Sunkenweed is a grassy plant native to rolling hills. In order to survive in the tumultuous earth of the biome, these plants have adapted roots capable of stretching up to five times their original length, allowing them to reach the sturdier bedrock at all times, with the exception of abnormally high waves.

Name

"Sunkenweed" is not an entirely accurate name - it neither sinks beneath the surface, nor is it invasive or fast to spread. This grass stands around 3 feet above the ground, and while it does grow closertogether in patches, spreads at a relatively slow rate. However, this rate is often percieved to be faster, as it is incredibly difficult to get rid of a sunkenweed plant once it has begun growing. This is because removing a sunkenweed plant requires removing all of its roots, which would require digging down to the lowest layer of topsoil in the hills, which is itself a feat with the constantly-moving terrain.

Uses

Material

The roots of sunkenweed plants can be used to make incredibly sturdy yet elastic ropes, known as sunkenweed rope. This rope is often used to physically anchor driftboats to the ground, the elasticity allowing for the boats to adjust to the tides of the surrounding Auras while still remaining tethered.

Food

While not particularly enjoyable, the only threat that eating sunkenweed poses is scratching the inside of one's mouth on the rough edges of the grass. However, this downside can be mitigated with proper preparation, and the plant itself is able to soak up other flavours and sauces very well, making it a semi-popular garnish on savoury dishes.

Medicinal

While not directly used in many medical products, sunkenweed can be used to brew sunkenweed tea. This tea has a somewhat bitter taste, though can be sweetened, and is helpful in soothing sore throats. While there are better materials that can be used in cough drops or similar medicines, this is the only ingredient that can be brewed into a tea, making it a convenient at-home remedy.

I love all the different uses for sunkenweed, especially that it can be used for both ropes and tea. :)
