The Cabinet is filled! Now, to look forward...
Hello everyone! I bring to you my final #cabinetofcuriosities update - it has been filled! The Language prompt stumped me for the longest time, I will admit. You can find my finished cabinet here! I'll also link the final nail in this proverbial coffin below.
Now, as for looking forward! I have been wanting to begin a manuscript for quite some time now, and I think I have the right amount of track laid out to hit the ground running... eventually. Before I start that, I will be polishing off the many stubs that were created over the course of this challenge, and probably begin updating my older articles as well. There is a lot to do, and little time to do it, so I'll keep it brief and stop my yapping here. Till' the next time,

Not Quite a February Wrap-Up
Hello, everyone. First I hope you had a great time with Cabinet of Curiosities! There's still a few more days before the competition wraps up. I might whip up a few more or expand on the stubs I submitted, but we'll see how life goes. (And if you're willing, I'd love to read your favorite article, so don't be afraid to share it!)
Second, thank you to Tillerz who kindly hosted the Duckuary 2024 Challenge . I had a blast doing it!
Third, I would like to announce I will be hosting my first an unofficial challenge next month! I have a few ideas myself, but if you have an idea I'd love to hear it! I'm very excited for it, and I hope you guys will be too. (Who knows maybe I might even do two??)
Besides a few additional articles to my worlds, I haven't been worldbuilding or writing very much, but I hope after these next few days I'll get some free time to get back into that.

Procrastination leads to weird places
Well I finished the #Cabinetofcuriosities! The last two items being Light and Rest. While I finished this yesterday, and tried getting back to writing the actual book, I didn't feel like it. I got the brain itches to world build. I am expanding the world as I go, and to be honest I couldn't stand looking at a hand drawn map of I did a few months back and several empty articles with only a name.

New Campaign - The Magocracy of Rose!
Tomorrow i'm starting a new campaign! I haven't played with this group for 10 years and we started together in 1996, so it's very exciting! The campaign takes place in the Magocracy of Rose, a kingdom filled with wizardry but also, a very strict regime!

My first Cabinet Fill (Also! I'm looking for multilingual worlds)
I have made my first Cabinet of Curiosities item! The Nötskriksfrö (jayseed) is a medicine-turned-illegal-drug found in my very brand new world Benkärna (Bone Core)! #cabinetofcuriosities
As you can guess, the article isn't in English (yet), only in Swedish.
But I do want to try exploring how to make a bilingual world with Benkärna. (Along with trying out building something more SciFi than my usual fantasy and folklore.)
As such, I'm looking for any worlds that come in multiple languages, to see how other people have handled it! So any suggestions would be lovely!

Resolutions & Bingo, a Cabinet of Curiosities, and an enthusiastic return to WA!
I'm finally publishing publically on World Anvil again! It's been too long and I'm looking forward to catching up on my notifications... My eyes popped out of my head at 1,000. Who knew notifications could go that high? xD
Anywho! I have two articles that I've published and made public this week! I'm excited, so I thought I'd show them a little love and share them.

A Cabinet of Rubber Ducks (and an update)
Things have been changing a ton in my person sphere these past couple weeks. I have changed work assignments and that always means that the new one will munch on my energy levels like cookie monster munches on cookies. So, it's been a bit quiet in the writing department for me, trying to navigate and balance life again.
Even though it's a bit quiet, there's a lot going on as I'm researching how operating systems work so I can teach you! Seeing as operating systems are just as big and complex as building a skyscraper, I have underestimated how much time it takes, of course.
So, while I continue to work on that, here is a small article for you to enjoy; arguably one of the fundamental debugging principles in programming which you can use in every-day life, too! Have a look and let tell me in the comments: what's your rubber duck?

Loving the Challenge - And You!
Hey everyone, its me, your favorite (and only?) priest of the Fadelight here, back again with news from the wastes of Vasara. I know its been quite some time since my last public appearance, but I've returned bearing gifts! You can find them all in my personal cabinet! I've been having a lot of fun with the #cabinetofcuriosities lately, both in uncovering items across this setting of mine and discovering those of other worlds and projects. This challenge has given me a whole host of new, blank canvases waiting to be painted upon I never would have had before, and I'm giddy to work on them once I finish the cabinet, in all honesty.
Also, since it is still Valentine's day here, I just wanted to say: I love this community of ours! Yes, YOU! Those I've interacted with so far have been nothing less than amazing. I'll cut the sappy bit short here though, that's just not me. Before I depart once more into The Gloom, though, I just wanted to say to everyone here: Thank you.

Cabinet of Curiosities Challenge
I think I've gotten my energy back from the rush that was NaNoWriMo and WorldEmber, so I'm excited to jump into the Cabinet of Curiosities challenge this February!
I've made my main challenge page, which is dedicated to Haven's tradition of keeping Hope and Memory Chests. Since Nanatu is one of the characters that I'm hyperfixated on lately, I'm going to try to get some of that energy out by using this challenge to focus what Nanatu kept in hers.
My goal is to start with a short description of what would go into each prompt, then expand upon them as the month goes on (or as inspiration strikes). Each of the items in the hope and memory chest will eventually come with a related article, though it may not be dedicated to that specific item! Since the Cabinet of Curiosities challenge badge requires only one entry, I'll be using this as a jumping off point and opportunity to expand other subjects.
The first two more-or-less completed articles from the challenge so far are:

Vreathe Worldbuilding Update
Last few weeks have been productive I think. I completely rewrote the article for the main kingdom in my setting, I tweaked my character articles, I wrote about ducks, and I got a few items in the Cabinet of Curiosities done. So let's start going down the list.

I had fun writing this because I would have never even thought to write about ducks otherwise!

I decided that it was finally time to practice writing some story again. Normally I practice for an article or two, get nervous about the writing, then make the articles private and don't write any story again for half a year, then repeat the cycle. I'm going to not do that this time, maybe. Three of the four entries below also have some janky story to go along with the items.

((Just a simple box of assorted cookies you can find on Vreathe))
Kingdoms of Cassel Almost completely rewritten, almost 5,000 words, and still just a summary of everything in this nation! Includes a short history and a summary of all five of the different kingdoms of Cassel as well as a bit of info on who their current (or last) ruler was.
Now that this is done, I am planning a chronicle that goes through the history of the country. I am planning to have a large number of maps to show the changes in territory over time. This is one of my major projects for Vreathe and I hope to start and finish it sometime in May or June. (I'll mess with the new timelines thing for another project another time...)
On my many notifications... I see them stacking up (386 as of right now). I've actually read every single comment you guys have been leaving on my articles and I appreciate the love, even though I really suck at responding to those comments and returning the love. So let's stop that laziness right now! Before I continue my worldbuilding next week I'm going to spend as many days as it takes reading those articles, responding to comments, and getting those knocked out! If I don't, it's just going to say 800 in two months and then I'll really get worried about never going through them all!

Cabinet of Curiosities in Requiem
My first entry for the Cabinet of Curiosities is the Twilight Melodica, which ended up being much longer than I was going for. I'm pretty pleased with it, but it did end up being more about the rituals of it instead of the item itself. No images yet, but I'm working on it and there will hopefully be some soon! Also, this challenge is awesome.

Cosmology's back up... sort of...
I've decided to split the old Cosmology article into four separate articles for easier navigation. They are back up now, but they still lack images. I'm also currently working on a new banner for my world.
But that's going to have to wait a bit because I also have some ideas for #cabinetofcuriosities I want to work on.

Etrea Update Feb 2024
I have officially squashed two hundred stubs.
And have over a hundred more than I started with, but you know. Sisyphus, like I said before.
I am still mired in the Atlas category, but I have two more stubs left before I leave Serukis behind and move onto Zenra, and then I'll be travelling to a new continent. Looking forward to moving onto Geography, though.
As well as the stubs, I'm also working on the Cabinet of Curiosities challenge, exploring the contents of the Royal Arcanum in Kaien. I am also working on a prompt article for mushrooms, which is more than half done, and I hope I will get to share with you soon.
I am also working on the main article for Serukis (which I am named for, not the other way around). I have just about finished the first section and it's almost at 2000 words... so expect a chonker.
In other news, I recently received the Human of the Match award for WorldEmber 2023, and I cried when I heard my name. This community is so important to me and I'm glad that people feel I am giving back, even just a little.

Cabinet of Curiosities in the Yonderverse
Come and explore the office space of an oanie, my world's main antagonist species. These inter-galactic colonisers are not as evil as they appear from the outside - they do have a softer side. But don't forget that they've killed hundreds of intelligent species. So they're not the best of people.

An exciting month ahead!
The reveal of the #cabinetofcuriosities took me by surprise, but in a good way, I love these kinds of things! I'm however tied, as I am actively working on The Five Skies but the subject fits really well the Alchemist's Sanctum. After all, the whole shop is a cabinet of curiosities!
My plan is to write one item for each of the 26 (picking in global item prompts for the last five), and a bit of gaslamp fantasy curios. They will be relics of the past, some stranger than others. And of course, one of them will have something to do with ducks!
