The importance of magic frequency
As we all know, magic particles vibrate at a specific frequency, with magic frequencies forming a spectrum.
Frequencies are important, as they determine how a specific magic interacts with its environment and other magics. The magic of living organisms has a natural frequency specific to each individual, but some species can control the frequency they use when casting magic.
Here are the most important consequences of the existence of magic frequencies:
Close frequencies or harmonies are important for magics working well together when combined in enchantments or artefacts.
Wards and shields are made to cover specific frequencies, and attacking outside of them will easily shatter them
People's natural frequency plays an important part in affinities and attraction.
Attacks
The ability to adapt the frequency of your magic is incredibly important, as a specific spell always require a narrow range of frequency to be successfully cast. Most people will manage to do so after some training.
However, what is especially hard is changing frequencies quickly. As a result, going from a frequency at one end of the spectrum to another at the other end in a fraction of a second is something that few people can do, and so it is a sure way to overwhelm everyone except the most skilled opponents.
Natural frequency-changing magic
Incredibly rarely, an individual is born with the ability to instinctively change the frequency of their magic or mix different frequencies together. This of course gives them an incredible advantage in battle.
The
Dark Lord is so skilled in magic that since he had risen to threaten the French kingdom, there has been a lot of rumors and divination saying that only an individual with frequency-changing magic would be able to stop him.
And so, when during the Dark Lord's attack on Lyon earlier today (see our front page for more details), a young man exhibited this talent when defending himself and nearby people, it was obviously that he was the Chosen One of prophecy, come to assist the King in getting rid of the Dark Lord!
I feel really sorry for the Chosen One. XD Poor guy.
