Gidren is a young man residing in the Kingdom of Arsavela. Bearing a troubled and hazy past, he wanders the Savelan Northlands with his companion, Brynna, in search of answers to the dark questions which ravage his mind.

Outlander in the Northlands

He isn't certain just how he arrived in the Northlands to begin with, but it is clear that it is not where he belongs. His frame is too slight, his clothes too nice — at least they used to be, before they fell to tatters through his forgotten misadventures. He survives well enough in the less-than-hospitable lands, but he has his companion to thank for that.

Clouded Mind

Gidren suffers from selective amnesia; he retained much of himself, but his deeper identity is lost to him.
He is unsure of where he belongs, or what he went through before ending up in the Savelan Northlands, but bits and pieces of his past come to him with time.

Loss of Identity

Not knowing who he is plagues him, leaving him lost in thought more often than most as he strains himself to remember anything of who he was before waking up to Brynna's care. This trait brings with it a host of regular issues, ranging from exhaustion, headaches, and trouble focusing — all of his energy is spent in the pursuit of remembering what was lost to him.
In serious situations, this could make him into a liability, as it dulls his senses and muddies his instincts.

Fleeting Harvest

1 | Fleeting Harvest
There are no proper introductions in this prologue-like first chapter of Fleeting Harvest, just the fast-paced chase that leads into chapter two — but we come to understand that this was just one example of Gidren's troubled nights, though we know nothing of his pursuer.

2 | Stone Roads
Gidren awakens in a sunny clearing, relieved to have survived the night, but his peace is cut short when he is found by his companion, Brynna. After assessing his condition, she takes him, limping, back to camp while expressing her concerns. She presses him to talk about his situation, but he simply does not know where to begin.

3 | White Walls
Attempting to tackle his memory problems head-on, Gidren dabbles in the art of soup divination in an attempt to pull something from his memory. It achieves almost nothing, but a sudden spill against his sleeve triggers a vision. White walls, his hand pulling away coated in blood — Brynna makes a connection to the white walls of Aurel, which is where Gidren now sets his sights.

4 | Blood Spilled
After a sleepless night, Gidren finds himself on the road with Brynna once again, this time headed south towards Aurel's outskirts along roads far friendlier to the feet than they're used to. Along the way, they encounter a figure from Brynna's past: Yara. Following the tense encounter, Gidren and Brynna both are left shaken, each for their own reasons.
