Henry Edward Longstaff is preparing the Celestial Express to leave the station, and is feeling uneasy about the note he found.

He notices waitstaff aren't as attentive as the last time he was onboard. He finds it strange to see the engineer in one of the sleeping cars.
Climax
He is killed in the game room coach by Brisco Tremaine.
Resolution
Henry Edward Longstaff is arrested for the murders on the train when he pulls in at Sadapintal.
