Home galaxy of the Cypher Dominion.
As the CD risen to power, they killed all who opposed them. The CD single handedly caused the extinction of thousands of species native to the Vloneest galaxy. At this time, the inhabitants of the galaxy declared the CD a galactic crisis and all simultaneously declared war no the Dominion.
The Dominion recently finished its superweapon - a Nicoll-Dyson Beam. The other factions could not answer this - it had the power to destroy a star system from across the galaxy. Many home systems were converted into black holes by this superweapon which largely hampered the ability of the other factions to fight it.
The other factions couldnt do a similar thing because the CD would just destroy the construction project before it could complete.
After a long, bloody war, they conqered the galaxy and killed trillions. The rich exploited the rest of the society and turned them into a hivemind. The people now are incapable of their own thoughts and now most of the entire faction was comprised of only a single sentience that was the combined personalities of all those who became a part of it.
It was also here that the Cypher Hyperquasar Annihilator was built. Although it is now a mere wreckage, it still stands as a symbol of the destruction that one faction can cause. The amount of lives that can be killed by the carelessness of those who lead the CD. For it is this weapon that destroyed almost 10 galaxies, 2 of which would be Hyperion Federation owned.

There used to be an archeotech artifact in the galaxy but it fell into a black hole. It was a perpetual motion machine. No faction ever knew about it.
