Cypher Dominion

A totalitarian regime bent on conquest. Everyone gets a chip inserted into their brain that mind controls them. The very few that doesn't get one are always exceptionally rich.   For their intergalactic travel, they use a device that creates permanent wormholes, unlike the Hyperion Federation, whose IGWD wormholes are temporary.   The CD lives on the HF side of the Fracture.   The CD uses primarily white hulls with red lights and paint for identification. This has sometimes given them a relatively scary appearance in battle, but in battles where stealth matters (e.g. on planetary surfaces) they would instead have the emblem of the CD painted with red instead, along with some camouflage pattern. Due to the extreme network of resources the CD has access to, the leader has not only become immortal but also grown significantly in size due to genetic modification. This makes him incredibly strong, and his brain large. It is likely his consciousness will be uploaded into a CD Matrioshka Brain eventually, as most of the entire CD will obey his every order. This has led to the leader being a very high priority target for almost every other faction. The gestaltification is potentially reversable, but becomes less reversable over time. If this transfer happens, it might become entirely irreversible. The Hyperion Federation in particular wants to prevent the tyranny of the CD spreading even further. Although they prefer to place new people they conquer into their gestalt, the CD has been known on multiple accounts to commit genocide.   Their key technology comes in the form of the Wormhole Fabricator, a relatively cheap device that has the capability to create and sustain wormholes. These have largely influenced the wider CD and Cypher Congolmerate (the mirror universe CD). A very similar technology can also be used, to transport energy from a large facility directly to a mobile starship. This technology is also used as the CD method of instantaneous communication. This makes their communication methods almost entirely immune to ewar (electronic warfare).   The CD military is fairly adaptable. Although not as adaptable as that of the Hyperion Federation or HEX Mainframe, they can retrofit their starships with different types of weapons. They are mainly limited by their technology. The CD is considered slightly stronger than average tecnologically, compared to other intergalactic factions. Like many factions, the CD also often makes use of ewar but simply cannot rival the ewar capabilities of more high tech factions like the Xalarin Council or HF. The HM is also considered more advanced than the CD technologically, but the disparity is close enough for both to challenge the other.   The CD views other factions as being in need of their enlightenment. With every war it fights, the CD believes that it is doing the right thing for the faction they attack. They view every other faction as being stuck in their own imperfections and problems, unable to save themselves. This view also applies to the HM despite their gestalt similarities, which supposedly solves the problem. They view the HM's population as having too little freedom and all controlled entirely by the machines of their own construction, which the CD views as a problem of the HM that they cant save themselves from. In reality, the drones of the HM have more autonomy than those of the CD, but they have not realised that.

Structure

Only the ruling family and those who are exceptionally important to the Dominion get the privilege to not be mind controlled. They are extremely rich. Everyone else is in the exact same class. Slaves.

Culture

Before becoming a mind control faction, they had an exotic culture that now does not exist.

History

After achieving post-scarcity status, the leaders of the Dominion thought it was a good idea to build the mind control machines while the economy was unstable.
