Biham I
A hot, volcanic planet in the Biham System.
Although geological activity is significant, there is not a large quantity of lava visible from orbit. The surface is covered mainly in volcanic ash and rock.
Instead, Biham I features a large quantity of volcanic elements such as sulfur. These elements exist on the surface in large quantites, making the world valuable for these atomic elements.
It features several space elevators used to transport these rare and hazardous materials to the surface. These have several defence platforms in orbit around the world, defending them. Even the space elevators themselves are armed and shielded. It is also tidally locked with its parent star, meaning one side of the world is much hotter than the other as it is in eternal day.
Biham I also has a lot of valuable metal ore because itis a lava planet. The CD extract quite a lot of magma from underground and filter it into its constituent parts, further refining any metals recieved in this way and discarding any unused materials such as stone. However, any structures built on world need to be sealed very effectively or some of the ash can get inside it which would probably ruin most technologies. Anything built on the planet needs to take many variables such as heat expansion and geological events like earthquakes into account. The conditions are likely to prove fatal on direct contact with any known organism. Anyone sent to the planet must always wear protective gear, probably something like a spacesuit, that is sealed from the extremely small ash particles. Biham I also makes use of geotermal power. These power stations are built deep underground near the geothermal vents. Getting down to the power stations can be difficult due to the extremely fine ash particles, but a number of massive elevator systems are typically built, as well as power cables that reach the surface.
